JOB SUMMARY

Manages nursing home staff and nursing activities, including resident care and record-keeping. Manages nursing staff assigned to a particular shift within the nursing home. Takes action regarding provision of resources within the context of shifts or designated time frame. Assigns residents to available nursing staff, taking into consideration the resident's condition and the employee's skill level. Measures employee performance. Assists in the training of new staff members and the development of existing staff members. Monitors resident care areas and other nursing home facilities for cleanliness and readiness. Provides nursing care to nursing home residents on an as needed basis. May administer oxygen, basic life support (BLS), possible IVs, or medications as prescribed by a provider. Knowledge of clinical practices, strategic planning, administrative, and financial principles. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Applies general clinical skills to perform clinical functions or tasks. Develops a culture in which all members work constructively to improve the performance of individuals and the team. Effectively delegates and supervises based on ones state practice act and an understanding of the concepts of responsibility, authority, and accountability. Effectively delegates and supervises unlicensed personnel, students, and new trainees within their defined scope while assuming overall nursing accountability for patient care. Integrates the best possible combination of care services in terms of housing, home care, and socialization programs. Maintains current certifications in specialty and continues education when necessary. Monitors compliance with company and government documentation and quality standards. Promotes organizational learning through knowledge management, training and development, and sharing key experiences. Responsible for promoting a safe environment for patients, families, staff, residents, and visitors and working collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary health care team to provide the best outcomes for patients. Suggests interventions or actions required and makes recommendations regarding the provision of resources.

DEPARTMENT DETAILS

Sanford Bemidji - Neilson Place is expanding its team and adding a new RN Neighborhood Manager position. In this new position, the RN Neighborhood Manager will be responsible for the oversite of the care and clinical outcomes for the 20 residents who reside on the Strawberry Neighborhood. They will also be responsible for the direct oversite of their neighborhood staff, including leading, managing and developing them. This position will be a member of Neilson Place’s interdisciplinary team and play a vital role in ensuring high quality care and services are provided to our residents. Preference will be given to applicants with clinical long-term care knowledge and experience as well as experience in leading and managing staff.

QUALIFICATIONS

Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. Bachelors' degree in Nursing preferred. Three years of nursing management experience, two of which must be at the manager or higher level. On year long term care or subacute care experience is required. Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program preferred, including, but not limited to, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA).
