JOB SUMMARY

Supervise and assist in the development of funding through highly competitive federal, state, foundation and corporate grants. Supervise and maintain efficiencies in grant development activities, including initial research, creation of timelines, identification or resources, proposal writing, data collection, internal approval processes and submission of grant proposals to potential funding agencies. Supervise grant development processes and proposals in compliance with grant guidelines and internal submission policy to ensure that proposed strategies meet organizational needs. Collaborate with outside stakeholders for grant development and implementation, and network with internal and external grant stakeholders and other grant development professionals. Maintain grant submission sites, central grant, contract files and grant management data. Keep current on changing grant standards and proposal guidelines, and write, edit, and approve grants accordingly. Assist with writing, which can range from critiquing, editing and rewriting drafts to writing an entire proposal. Ensure the submission of complete and accurate applications within grant deadlines, and manage and assist with grant post-award management. Be aware of the department budget, and provide financial input in budgeting, proper accounting and the reporting of all grants. May work and facilitiate with external auditors during all types of audits. Supervise and facilitate the administration of private and public grant awards. Maintain grant and contract files, review contracts, progress reports, and closed grants. Interpret and apply federal grant regulations and cost accounting standards to federal awards. Supervise the grants and contracts administrators. Assist in the interviewing and hiring of employees and any other personnel issues that arise. May be required to travel and work extra hours, to include some weekends.

Ensures organizational budgeting practices meet regulatory requirements. Evaluates complex proposals, identifies alternatives, and makes recommendations accordingly. Ensures compliance with current government and industry audit practices and requirements. Reinforces positive contributions and recommends adjustments for improving outcomes. Develops contract relationships with external sources and resources.

DEPARTMENT DETAILS

QUALIFICATIONS

Grant Professionals Certification (GPC), Project Management Professional Certification (PMP), Certified Grants Management Specialist (CGMS), Certified Research Administrator (CRA), Juris Doctor (JD) or Certified Pre-award Research Administrator (CPRA) certification preferred. Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communication, health care administration or a related field with at least seven years of grant, contract or related experience required. Master's degree in a related field preferred.
