JOB SUMMARY

Responsible to complete light maintenance, repair and cleaning tasks in a safe, professional manner. Must take extra precautions when working in patient care areas and specifically keep tools out of the reach of children. Must possess intermediate mechanical knowledge and show competence in the use of hand tools, meters, measuring devices and gauges. A fundamental ability to work from blueprints, schematics and technical manuals desired. Must be able to explain conditions and situations accurately while troubleshooting, and function with safety, moral end efficiency of the department in mind. Ability to work all shifts and hours as scheduled. Must comply with all corporate and facility policies and dress code. Must understand written and verbal communications. Good written and oral communications skills required. Completes intermidiate tasks with minimal supervision. Must be knowledgeable of local, state and federal codes, specifications, and ordinances. Depending on facility size, additional duties may include but are not limited to: perform installation and maintenance of mechanical and stationary systems, including boiler operations, to ensure a safe and efficient environment; maintain campus grounds and perform other outside maintenance duties; perform general duties such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, HVAC, and bed repair and maintenance.May require on-call duties as needed or as directed by the department.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Read work orders and specifications to determine machines and equipment requiring repair or maintenance. Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary. Perform routine maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, or belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, or doing other preventive maintenance actions. Install or replace machinery, equipment, and new or replacement parts and instruments, using hand or power tools. Researches and verifies customer needs and expectations. Comply with all applicable standards, policies, or procedures, such as safety procedures or the maintenance of a clean work area. Adjust, maintain, and repair tools, equipment, and machines, and assist more skilled workers with similar tasks. Obtain, move, and sort products, materials, containers, and orders, using hand tools. Inventory and order materials, supplies, and services. Explains different product features to different customers as appropriate to their needs. Initiates communication with other individuals or teams to solve shared problems cooperatively.

QUALIFICATIONS

Depending on location, a valid driver's license and a good driving record may be required. High School Diploma or GED required. Trade school or vocational school and at least two years of experience in building systems preferred.
