Job Details

Position Description:
The College of Human Development and Education is seeking an Academic Advisor. Job responsibilities include: advise students enrolled in majors in the College of Human Development and Education; participate in recruiting activities for the College; assist in the orientation/registration process for the College; advise transfer students; coordinate and conduct prospective student visits for the College; serve as a resource to students and faculty; serve as the liaison for the College of HDE in preparation for Welcome Week, Discover Days, and Academic Saturdays; update recruiting materials; contribute to social media promotion; and other duties as related to student recruitment and advising as needed.

Other duties include serving as a resource to students and family and promoting the College of Human Development and Education and the undergraduate majors in the College. Job responsibilities include: advise freshman and sophomore students enrolled in majors in the College of Human Development and Education; participate in recruiting activities for the College; assist in the orientation/registration process for the College; coordinate and conduct prospective student visits for the College; and other duties related to student recruitment and advising as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
*Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
*Two years of relevant experience working with undergraduate students
*Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
*Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
*Experience working with people of diverse backgrounds
*Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office spreadsheets, word processing, and other related software
*Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and problem solving ability

Preferred Qualifications:
*Master's degree earned or in progress from an accredited institution
*Undergraduate or graduate major in one of the programs offered in the College of Human Development and Education or a related field
*Previous experience in academic or career advising
*Knowledge of theories of college student development
*Familiar with NDSU policies and procedures
