The University of North Dakota announces a nationwide search for a new Dean of its School of Law.
The University of North Dakota, one of the nation’s premier regional public research universities, is at an exciting crossroads in its 130-year history. UND is implementing a One UND Strategic Plan that will set the course for the next several years and is designed to promote thoughtful and strategic growth. UND’s goal is to generate opportunity for the state by diversifying its economy and addressing societal grand challenges through cutting-edge research.
Established in 1899, the University of North Dakota Law School has an enrollment of about 250 students and more than 3000 alumni. The School offers the J.D. degree and joint degree programs in law and public administration (J.D./M.P.A.) and in business administration (J.D./M.B.A.). In addition the law school offers two certificate programs, one in Indian law and one in aviation law. The school is also home to the Northern Plains Indian Law Center.
Reporting directly to the University Vice President for Academic Affairs & Provost, the dean is the chief executive and academic officer of the School and the primary liaison with the University, playing a central role individually and as a group, in the university’s academic administration. He or she is centrally involved in issues including strategic planning, budget, curriculum, facilities and research. He or she is a key participant in external relations of the university including fundraising, alumni relations, economic development, legislative priorities (federal and state) and public relations.
