JOB SUMMARY

Provides direction to food service staff according to quality standards. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, monitoring and recording proper temperature of food, setting up and maintaining a clean and sanitized serving area, preparing and serving food items, restocking food areas, cleaning and sanitizing equipment, receiving payment for food and beverages using a computerized register and other related responsibilities. Complies with Hazardous Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines for food service. Provides outstanding customer service and effectively communicates with patrons and co-workers. Demonstrates ability to establish effective working relationships. May operate equipment such as, but not limited to, grills, beverage machines, toasters, ice cream dispensers, cash registers, computerized cash registers, steam equipment, dishwashers, telephones, refrigerators and freezers. Displays experience working in the food industry. Possesses ability to work independently when necessary. Possesses an understanding of food safety and sanitation processes. Demonstrates ability to be on feet for the majority of the day and walk far distances.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Applies an assigned technique for critical thinking in a decision-making process. Assesses and validates decision options and points and predicts their potential impact. Communicates the importance of customer needs/expectations and commits to resolving them. Contributes to and encourages new ideas; builds on suggestions of others. Delivers helpful feedback that focuses on behaviors without offending the recipient. Develops and uses checklists to insure that information goes out error-free. Instructs junior food preparation staff in proper food handling processes. Looks for and considers non-verbal cues from individuals and groups. Mentors others to prepare them for responsibilities. Performs corresponding food and kitchen preparation for internal or external inspection. Promotes a team culture that balances individual initiative and team collaboration and sharing of successes. Responds to day-to-day operational priorities while still making progress on project work.

DEPARTMENT DETAILS

QUALIFICATIONS

Depending upon location of hire, Serv Safe may be required to obtain within a designated time frame, typically one year. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Possesses ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions. Ability to perform basic math. Depending upon location applying for, a minimum of two years experience in food service preferred. Previous leadership experience preferred. On-the-job training will be provided. Depending on location, may be required to complete Diet Therapy Class and pass Diet Therapy exams.
