Press Operator

The Brainerd Dispatch is looking for a full-time Night Press Operator; hours generally are 7:00 PM – 4:00 AM Monday – Friday nights. The Press operator positions at The Brainerd Dispatch are persons employed to work on and maintain the Goss Community press units, folder, and 4-highs. The successful candidate will work 5 days a week. This position is intended as a 40 hour per week position with excellent benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance, PTO and 401k plan.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):

• Proper plate-up including normal page combinations
• Press start up and running procedures
• Set and maintain color registration and quality
• Time press in both black and color modes
• Install blankets, clutches properly and perform periodic maintenance
• Forklift operation with either forks or clamp
• Operate Goss folder
• Responsible to abide and follow all OSHA regulations and Company Safety Procedures
• Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be 18 years of Age
• Must be detail oriented
• Mechanically inclined helpful
• Maintain prompt and reliable attendance
• Able to effectively communicate in a team environment
• Thorough knowledge of color and page positioning assuring the most efficient setup for press
• Must be able to push rolls into reels and load. Rolls may weigh up to 1200 lbs
• Must be able to bend over, lift, and reach over head. Must be able to carry and lift 75 lb. roll shafts
• Must be able to change rollers inside and outside press units, in a sitting or kneeling position, rollers may weigh 15 – 45 lbs
• Press Operators are expected to monitor all press functions and settings throughout a press run including but not limited to: paper feed, ink & water levels, and color balance
• No prior experience or training necessary.
