Job Description: Genetic Counselor - Cancer Center
Fargo, North Dakota
Essentia Health is currently looking for a Certified Genetic Counselor specializing in Oncology to support a genetic counseling program. An ideal candidate would also have some specialization in Maternal Fetal Medicine.
The Essentia Health Cancer Center in Fargo, North Dakota, and our regional centers in Detroit Lakes, Park Rapids, and Fosston, Minnesota and Jamestown, North Dakota, provide comprehensive and personalized care for patients with cancer and blood disorders. Our Cancer Center is accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer as a Comprehensive Community Cancer Program, as well as a program accreditation as a breast program through the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers, assuring that patients with breast cancer receive the highest standards of care.
This position provides opportunities to: work in a collaborative, supportive, and compassionate team environment, use telehealth technologies, and aid in the development of the genetic counselor program at Essentia Health.
PRACTICE SPECIFICS
•\tJoin a practice of 3 medical oncology physicians and 1 physician assistant and 2 radiation oncology physicians
•\tLarge referral base
•\tClinic hours: 8am-5pm
•\tHome base located in the Essentia Health Cancer Center (with possibility of also providing services to maternal fetal medicine if able)
•\tEssentia Health also provides medical oncology outreach - so there is the possibility to do telehealth visits to the surrounding rural communities
REQUIREMENTS
•\tMaster's degree in Genetic Counseling from an accredited program
•\tInterest and specialization in cancer genetics and research
•\tSpecialization in Maternal Fetal genetics and research is a plus
•\tBoard certified or eligible for genetic counseling required. American Board of Genetic Counseling OR the American Board of Medical Genetics required
•\tAt least 1 year of previous experience preferred
ADDITIONAL SKILLS REQUIRED
•\tExceptional communication skills and ability to interpret and discuss genetic test procedures, results and genetic diseases in terms understandable by patients
•\tPromote and maintain compatible working relationships among other personnel in the department and organization
•\tAbility to work efficiently and accurately

•\tCentrally located on the border of North Dakota & Minnesota
•\t3.5 hours west of Minneapolis/St. Paul
•\tFargo-Moorhead population: 225,000
•\tRegional Service area consists of 27 clinics and 5 hospitals

Education Qualifications:
