Hiring Department:Athletics Department - Student-Athlete Support Services Coordinator

Minimum Hiring Salary / Position Classification:  $30,000/Annual, Full-Time, Benefited, Exempt
Benefits: Includes single or family health care coverage (premiums paid for by the university), basic life insurance, EAP, retirement plan, tuition waiver, annual and sick leave.  Optional benefits available: supplemental life, dental, vision, flexible spending account, supplemental retirement plans. 
Work Schedule:  Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm; may include evenings , weekends, holidays

Position Details
:

 

The Student-Athlete Support Serivces Coordinator will provide comprehensive assistance to the athletics department in the area of academic services including providing leadership education, and serving as an academic advisor which includes but is not limited to assisting with class selection, monitoring graduation requirements/tracking on graduation, assisting students experience academic difficulties and setting educational goals, assisting with study tables, and arranging tutoring.
 

Responsibilities include assisting with all aspects of compliance including but not limited to:

  • Responsible for monitoring progress toward degree certification for NCAA eligibility (PTDS) as well as initial eligility for PSA's for sports assigned.
  • Assist with continuing eligibility of current student-athletes including monitoring, recording and reviewing academic progress, and communicating with staff and student-athletes, particularly for assigned teams.
  • Serve as a secondary liaison to various campus constituents and will serve as a secondary administrative liaison for the student athlete advisory committee (SAAC) and providing leadership education opportunities (Hawkademy).
  • Assist with all student-athelte development programming
  • Assists with completion of required UND, NCAA and conference academic reporting documents. Promote compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations.

  • Must have effective professional working relationship with student-athletes, staff, administration, alumni and general public.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Must have a commitment to NCAA compliance and follow all NCAA, conference and UND rules and regulations. 
  • Must provide support and encouragement and ensure the safety and well-being of the student athletes including having a valid driver’s license.

Minimum Requirements
:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 1 year experience in college level academic advising
  • 1 year experience in college level student programming
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must successfully complete a criminal history background check prior to employment.


In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the US and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. 



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working at an NCAA Division, I, II or III Athletics Department
  • Experience with peoplesoft or other applicable higher education software systems
  • Experience with developing student academics/learning skills
