Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification:  $38,095/Annual, Full-Time, Benefited, Exempt
Benefits: Includes single or family health care coverage (premiums paid for by the university), basic life insurance, EAP, retirement plan, tuition waiver, annual and sick leave.  Optional benefits available: supplemental life, dental, vision, flexible spending account, supplemental retirement plans.
Work Schedule:  Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-4:30 pm

  • Manage efforts to build UND’s online presence and brand awareness through social media.  
  • Consistently monitor social media and other digital analytics, and regularly generate reports translating this data into powerful insights for the organization, enabling targeted strategic adjustments to enhance outreach, ROI and effectiveness in communicating with target audiences.
  • Research and develop relevant content topics that support the University’s strategic priorities, and leverage these into strategic social media marketing campaigns with targeted embedded analytics focusing on specific demographics
  • Create and publish original, authentic, creative and high-quality content (images, video and written). Monitor content to determine what fosters engagement and adjust content creation accordingly.
  • Monitor any and all mention of the University in public online forums at all times. Respond if/when applicable, and report notable concerns and opportunities to appropriate management.
  • Use a content editorial calendar (Sprout Social) to manage content and plan specific, timely marketing campaigns in collaboration with other UND social media managers. Time posts utilizing online tools.
  • Manage, monitor and mediate all social media platforms for UND, including the aggregator that serves the UND website and TV displays.
  • Continuously research new trends and emerging platforms; implement new trends as appropriate and transition out of underperforming platforms.
  • Continuously synergize all social media efforts with marketing efforts and ensure that all decisions are data-driven and analytics-based.
  • Build and maintain relationships with the UND community (both online and offline).
  • Promote strategic digital content (i.e., UND websites, UND blogs, UND Today, social media posts) through paid digital advertising, free opportunities, earned media, and other digital tactics.
  • Evaluate and report on social media effectiveness using Web analytics, click through rates, conversion rates, event attendance/participation, etc. Use data to inform strategic marketing efforts and tactics.
  • Perform regular quality assurance/quality control checks on assigned campaigns to ensure they are performing as planned and adjust accordingly.
  • Oversee and/or coordinate the collection, compilation, and analysis of online social media activity data; develop, write, and present comprehensive statistical and narrative reports.
  • Oversee setting and analyzing social media campaign metrics; translate data, insights, and best practices into recommendations for revising tactics and measuring the success of social media initiatives and marketing campaigns.
  • Uses analytics to identify opportunities and develop clear social media measurement objectives.
  • Provide education and direction to departments, faculty, staff and students in developing strategic social media plans; work closely with departments to ensure proper content and messaging executed online is relevant to organizational goals.
  • Train and advise departments on running effective social media campaigns to establish consistency of communications across multiple networks.
  • Monitor trends in social media tools, applications, channels, design and strategy in order to educate campus on latest best practices.
  • Develop a process to communicate, educate and collaborate with all UND social media managers.
  • Contribute to an optimistic and enthusiastic workplace that challenges and energizes staff.
  • Support the workplace culture of the Office and University by demonstrating the professional conduct and values expected of all employees. 
  • Be forward thinking and explore new opportunities for growth and improvement. Continually improve and advance personal leadership through professional development and continuing education.
  • Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, retreats, planning sessions, trainings, and other meetings/events as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Required Competencies:

• Ability to edit photography and video editing skills using a mobile device. 
• Maintains excellent writing and language skills (grammar, spelling proofreading and punctuation).
• Displays ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written, visual and video formats.?
• Is a team player with the confidence to take the lead and guide other employees when necessary (ie: content development, creation and editing of content, and online reputation management).

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, advertising, journalism, graphic arts, business or related field.
• One year of relevant work experience in social media advertising, paid search marketing or media planning and/or another highly quantitative, analytical, and results-driven experience.
• Displays in-depth experience and understanding of popular social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat, Pinterest etc.) and how each platform can be deployed in different scenarios.
• Experience working in an environment with multiple deadlines, including demonstrated ability to prioritize and meet multiple requests under pressure.
• Computer experience in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook), internet and email.
• Experience using research and analytics to support and evaluate social media campaigns. 
• Successful completion of criminal history records check.
