Hiring Department: Energy and Environmental Research Center (EERC)

Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classifications: $120,000+/Annual, Full-Time, Benefited, Exempt
Benefits

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.  Some travel required.

This position is located at the Energy & Environmental Research Center (EERC), an International leader in energy and environmental research, conducting projects for clients throughout the United States and the world. We are looking for experienced, aggressive, scientifically trained, and market-oriented individuals to contribute to the success of the organization by performing one or more of the following functions:

  • Lead groups of researchers to complete multidisciplinary research tasks; propose research projects and write proposals to obtain funding for the projects; manage teams to complete funded projects within budget and schedule
  • Perform technical work integrating multiple data sets such as well log data, 3-D seismic data, geological interpretations, production data, and reservoir simulations to create comprehensive interpretations of the subsurface
  • Acquire and interpret a variety of geophysical data; lead the preparation of technical reports
  • Interact and coordinate with a diverse team of scientists and engineers to add value to a variety of projects focused on enhanced oil and gas development and geologic CO2 storage using cutting-edge technologies.
  • Some travel is required.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master of science degree.
  • 10 years minimum of related professional experience in Geophysics or Geomechanics.
  • Experience using a seismic interpretation software package to interpret 2-D and 3-D seismic data sets.
  • Experience with geophysical data acquisition.
  • Experience with and/or familiarity with geophysical data processing.
  • Author or coauthor of a published peer-reviewed journal article or technical paper.
  • Experience preparing and delivering presentations.
  • Cover letter and resume or curriculum vitae.
  • Applicants may be required to provide a writing sample of the interviewer's choice during interview.
  • Successful completion of Criminal history background check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. degree in Geophysics or related field and 10+ years of professional experience in exploration. geophysics, reservoir characterization, or oil and gas research.
  • Experience managing technical staff with diverse backgrounds and education levels.
  • Experience writing technical proposals within a prescribed framework.
  • Experience designing and managing projects with strict time lines and fixed budgets. PMP certification or other project management credential a plus.
  • Proficient in the use of Schlumberger’s Petrel, Hampson Russell HRS-10, Kingdom or similar geophysics software packages.
  • Experience with and understanding of geophysical data processing software and algorithms.
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following: geophysical modeling, prestack seismic inversion, time-lapse seismic analysis, signal processing, or processing seismic data from field records.
  • Experience with Linux.
  • Experience with coding tools such as MatLab, C, C++, Python, or Fortran.
