Hiring Department: Energy and Environmental Research Center (EERC)

Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification: $65,000/yr plus DOE, Full-Time, Benefited, Exempt
Benefits: Includes single or family health care coverage (premiums paid for by the university), basic life insurance, EAP, retirement plan, tuition waiver, annual and sick leave.  Optional benefits available: supplemental life, dental, vision, long term care insurance, flexible spending account, supplemental retirement plans.
Work Schedule:  Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.  Some travel required.

This position is located at the Energy & Environmental Research Center (EERC), an International leader in energy and environmental research, conducting projects for clients throughout the United States and the world. We are looking for experienced, aggressive, scientifically trained, and market-oriented individuals to contribute to the success of the organization by performing one or more of the following functions:

  • Integrating multiple datasets including well log data, geological interpretations, production data and reservoir simulations to perform advanced interpretation of a variety of geophysical datasets
  • Performing petrophysical analyses of geophysical data
  • Assisting in the preparation of technical reports
  • Interfacing with a diverse team of scientists and engineers to assess project uncertainties in oil and gas development and geologic CO2 storage.
  • Some travel is required.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master of science degree and 5 years of related professional or research experience in Geophysics, Geomechanics, or Geology
  • Experience using a seismic interpretation software package to interpret 2-D and 3-D seismic datasets
  • Experience performing seismic inversion
  • Experience preparing and delivering presentations
  • Cover letter and resume or curriculum vitae
  • Applicants may be required to provide a writing sample of the interviewer's choice during interview
  • Successful completion of Criminal history background check

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in exploration geophysics, reservoir characterization, or oil and gas research.
  • Proficient in use of Schlumberger’s Petrel, Hampson Russell, Kingdom or similar geophysics software package.
  • Experience interpreting 2-D and 3-D seismic reflection datasets
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following: rock physics, fluid substitution modeling, seismic inversion, time-lapse seismic, signal processing, or processing prestack seismic data from field records
  • Author or coauthor of a published peer-reviewed journal article or technical paper.
  • Experience with MatLab, C, C++, Python, or Fortran
