Position Overview

The IT Manager, Agile and Program Management is responsible for managing and developing leaders of people and projects, as well as individual team members (e.g. Scrum Masters and Agile Coaches). This position will set the strategic vision and ongoing strategy for our Agile journey. This role ensures business objectives aligning to the Business Relationship Management & Product Delivery strategy are accomplished through established, implemented and executed plans & tactics. The position's focus is on maintaining, coaching and developing staff, communicating organization objectives and expectations, and monitoring the progress of projects and initiatives, taking appropriate action when needed. This individual is a hands-on self-starter with a combination of technology and strong collaboration and communication skills.

Management|Leadership
  • Engage, inspire, and collaborate with direct reports, management peers, and executive management.
  • Establish and develop best practices within the Center(s) of Excellence for a given discipline (SM, Product Owners, etc.).
  • Collaborate with IT leadership to establish an environment which promotes empowerment and collaboration, enabling teams and individuals to accelerate the delivery of business value.
  • Develop and administer various Business Relationship Management plans and procedures for the team.
  • Accountable for the performance of a team within own discipline based on departmental strategy & KPIs. Participates in developing department goals, objectives and KPIs in alignment with corporate strategy.
  • Build key partnerships within the organization to ensure understanding of broad business strategy and impact to Business Relationship Management and vice versa
  • Act as a change agent who is able to gain consensus and influence action
  • Identify opportunities for team and|or supervisor development (e.g. hard or soft skill) to ensure industry and corporate standards are met; partner with HR to develop and organize development activities
  • Understand new and existing concepts and how it applies to the DK culture and software delivery
  • Manage team performance using metrics, reports, surveys, and various data analyses. Recommend new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
  • Be a top point of escalation for all team issues in need of leadership decision.
  • Solves unique and complex problems that have a broad impact on the business
Position Specific Responsibilities:
  • Develop agile based methodology for software development organization creating necessary standards, tools and best practices in a clearly documented form.
  • Assess which methodology is best suited for a team or project.
  • Participate and support the development of high performing teamsThis may include the following:
    • Ensure the development teams are practicing the core agile principles of collaboration, prioritization, team accountability, and visibility
    • Recommend improvements and assist in changes to best practice
    • Assist with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information
    • Facilitate discussion and conflict resolution
    • Empower the teams to self-organize
    • Improve the productivity of the teams in any way possible
  • Support the development managers and project leads as necessary in securing the best resource for the job
  • Coaches Scrum Masters into exceptional Scrum Masters, capable of supporting powerful self-organization and paving the way for more ingenious and value-generating teams.
  • Extending and supporting agile within the organization.
  • Responsible for ensuring team health checks are conducted and that information is radiated to leadership and utilized to identify initiatives to provide better support for the teams.
  • Identify and assist in removing impediments to ensure that our teams continue to optimize their delivery processes.
  • Cultivate a culture of continuous learning and improvement to accommodate the growing needs of the organization.
  • Assist with the coordination of the IT Agile Reviews.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Minimum/Essential Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of relevant education and experience
  • Understanding of agile software development methodologies, values, and procedures
  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle
  • Excellent team player and team builder
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a very dynamic and timeline sensitive work environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work with diverse personality types
  • Ability to understand technical issues at a high level
  • Proven ability to work independently with limited supervision and with other department personnel in a very dynamic and timeline sensitive work environment
  • Must have exceptional communication, organization, and time management skills
  • Ability to coach the team to reach their highest potential

Preferred Qualifications/Selection Criteria:
  • Four-year degree (any), two years management experience (any).
  • Certified Scrum Master with 3+ years project management and Scrum Master experience
