Job Details

Responsibility for primary accounting tasks related to Rice Memorial Hospital and its related entities. Responsible for daily banking activity and reconciling to recorded transactions. Responsible for managing multiple small to large analysis projects as requested. Provide financial analysis special projects by extracting data from various accounting and information systems and present subsequent narrative analysis to management. Responsible for other general accounting functions as assigned.


JOB RELATIONSHIPS:

A. REPORTS TO: Director of Finance

B. SUPERVISES: None

C. INTERRELATIONSHIPS WITH: Finance Staff, Rice Home Medical Director and Staff, Materials Management Staff, Department Directors, Managers, Chief Financial Officer and other Executives as needed.


HOURS OF WORK: Monday through Friday, 8.00-5.00; 40+ hours per week.


DRESS CODE: Appropriate business attire.


ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS OF WORK (Minimum qualifications necessary to function at full productivity).

A. EDUCATION AND TRAINING: Requires Bachelor's Degree in Accounting with CPA Certification preferred.

B. EXPERIENCE: Solid accounting experience with all general ledger accounts in a self-motivated and controlled environment. Experience with design and development of spreadsheets, data bases, and computerized accounting and data management systems required. Some healthcare experience is preferred but not required.

C. JOB KNOWLEDGE (Specific): General accounting principles; demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office particularly Excel spreadsheets, graphics; other software systems to include general ledger, fixed assets, clinical information systems, patient accounting systems, payroll timekeeping systems, report writer software; basic knowledge of healthcare revenue cycle and reimbursement.

PRINCIPAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES, TASKS, AND AUTHORITIES:

A. RESPONSIBILITY: Rice Memorial Hospital primary accounting tasks

PRIORITY: A % OF TIME: 60% DISCRETION: A

TASKS:

1. Prepares journal entries related to month end close processes for Rice Memorial Hospital and its related entities.

a. cash receipts b. accounts receivable c. contractual allowances d. inventory e. inventory adjustments f. prepaid expenses and deferred revenue g. depreciation h. due to/due from, inter-company accounts i. sales j. cost of goods sold

2. Reconciles assigned balance sheet accounts. 3. Reviews cost center activity for accuracy and reasonableness. 4. Develops and distributes reports to management team.

5. Analytical review, revenue recognition, and other duties as deemed appropriate or necessary.

6. Maintains the chart of accounts 7. Develop and coordinate the provision of information to external auditors.

B. RESPONSIBILITY: Analysis projects

PRIORITY: B % OF TIME: 25% DISCRETION: A

TASKS:

1. Meets with department directors and managers to identify scope and components of needed analysis.

2. Performs requested analysis and summarizes findings in a manner easily understood by client. 3. Ensures that data integrity is maintained and that appropriate analysis techniques are utilized. 4. Presents or assists with presentation of findings to appropriate parties. 5. Provides graphical representation of data where deemed helpful to aid in the analysis. 6. Maintains current knowledge of applicable software programs to assist in effective and

efficient data analysis. 7. Ensures that deadlines and other milestones are met in a timely manner. 8. Reviews and analyzes activity of assigned cost centers or departments on regular monthly

basis.

C. RESPONSIBILITY: Other Accounting Tasks

PRIORITY: C % OF TIME: 15% DISCRETION: A

TASKS:

1. Reconcile banking activity to recorded transactions and research any discrepancies on a daily and month end basis for all of Rice's banking accounts.

2. Reviews and analyzes activity for assigned cost centers, departments or activities and participates in monthly financial review with the Finance department and CFO.

3. Assists with preparation of governmental reporting, surveys and annual reports. 4. Assists with development and distribution of reports. 5. Assists with system upgrades and installations of software utilized by Finance Department. 6. Performs other duties as assigned.
