Hiring Salary/Position Classification:  $48,000 plus/year, Exempt, Full-time, Benefitted    
Benefits: Includes single or family health care coverage (premiums paid for by the university), basic life insurance, EAP, retirement plan, tuition waiver, annual and sick leave.  Optional benefits available: supplemental life, dental, vision, flexible spending account, supplemental retirement plans.
Work Schedule:  8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday - Friday

The University of North Dakota (www.UND.edu) is seeking an individual who enjoys a challenge and strives for continuous improvement to join the Business Service Center team as an Financial Services Accountant.   The Business Service Center (BSC) offers financial services to over 30 UND departments with plans to expand centralization of these functions. This is a professional position reporting to the Business Service Center Manager under the direction of the Director of Financial Operations within the Division of Finance & Operations.

 The Financial Services Accountant will:

  • Partner with assigned departments to effectively and responsibly manage departmental budgets.
  • Oversee processing of departmental transactions and provide financial reporting, oversight and analysis.
  • Demonstrate integrity and ethics in all business transactions.
  • Be part of a team that advocates for process improvements and continually strives to be the benchmark in higher education financial services.
  • Demonstrate adaptability, positive attitude, critical thinking skills, and value teamwork.
  • Demonstrate superior customer service, integrity and commitment to efficiency and fiscally responsible activities.
  • Use strong written and verbal communication skills, including active listening, critical thinking, and the ability to write and speak concisely and express thoughts clearly.
  • Contribute to and work in a team environment.
  • Organize, prioritize and complete responsibilities in a timely manner.
  • Multi-task in a high volume, fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business related field
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and in particular, advanced knowledge of data analysis functions of Excel with ability to generate a management summary of the data.
  • Successful completion of Criminal History Background Check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 2 years of experience working in a financial setting
  • Experience advising organizations on financial and business decisions
  • Experience budgeting and preparing financial projections
  • Experience with PeopleSoft Finance and HRMS (Human Resources/Payroll) modules
  • Experience with Perceptive Content or similar accounts payable system
  • Experience with  UND policies and procedures
