Job Details
North Dakota State University invites applications for a Research Assistant Professor position in the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering ( ABEN ). This position is a non-tenure-track, full-time, benefited faculty research position. Major focus of this position would be addressing the research needs in the post-harvest processing and value addition area. Responsibilities include research in bioprocessing - specifically research and development of economical and sustainable technologies for production and utilization of agricultural, food and biological products such as energy, fuel, food, beverages, fiber, chemicals, and pharmaceuticals.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop a robust, collaborative, externally funded research program incorporating novel and emerging technologies. Excellent laboratory facilities are available for use and opportunities exist for collaboration with other researchers within the department, the university, as well as with external partners of the state and the nation. The successful candidate will be expected to obtain grant funding to support the position after an initial start-up period.
Position expectations include: 1) develop a grant-supported research program in bioprocessing area; 2) establish collaborative partnerships with researchers in other NDSU units, industries, and other institutions; 3) present and publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals, technical symposia, and other outreach events and 4) serve the agricultural and biosystems engineering profession and stakeholders in general.
Minimum Qualifications:
• A Ph.D. in agricultural engineering, biosystems engineering, biotechnology engineering or in a related scientific or engineering field (degree must be completed before accepting the offer)
• Interest and ability to develop an externally-funded research program in the area of bioprocessing
• Interest in and ability to mentor graduate students
• Experience to work independently and as a multidisciplinary team member within the institution and with external partners
• Excellent oral and written competencies and interpersonal skills, especially in the communication of science and technology among professionals and to the public
Preferred Qualifications:
• Demonstrated record of scholarship including experience in obtaining funding, conducting independent research, and publishing research findings through different outlets
• Experience in preparing successful competitive research proposals
• Knowledge of agronomy, grain production, and grain quality

Special Conditions:
The position offers a full benefit package and start up salary for twelve months. The successful candidate will be responsible for his/her salary from grants and service collection for following years.
