JOB SUMMARY

Pharmacy Intern works in a medical center pharmacy environment consisting of unit dose dispensing, IV Admixtures, discharge prescriptions, computerized profiles, compounding and automated dispensing devices. The Pharmacy Intern is responsible for assisting the pharmacist staff in the provision of pharmaceutical care to the customers of Sanford by following established regulations, standards and practices (including the preparation of IV admixtures and chemotherapeutic agents). The Pharmacy Intern must possess the skills necessary for the understanding of written policies and procedures, perform various functions under the supervision of a registered pharmacist, and participate in departmental problem-solving when needed. Must demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills and be able to learn and utilize new technology as the profession of pharmacy evolves.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

1- 4hour evening shift a week and 12 hours every other weekend and additional shifts available to help cover staffing needs
QUALIFICATIONS

Must maintain annual registration as an Undergraduate Pharmacy Intern through the respective State Board of Pharmacy. Must meet the minimum requirements to be registered through the respective state board of pharmacy (requirements vary by state). In North Dakota the requirements are one year of full time college or university must be completed in a pre-pharmacy program. In Minnesota, the requirements are one year must be completed in a professional pharmacy program (third year in school as the first 2 years are the pre-pharmacy courses). Must have a familiarity with drug products, pharmacy procedures, and medical terminology.
