Job Information

The Quality Manager of Technology is responsible for identifying, defining, developing, and implementing technologies and processes that eliminate opportunities for issues to occur and ensure quality is built into new and/or existing products. This includes technology investigations, feasibility studies, project justifications, process prototyping, process design, and project implementation. This also includes defining specifications and best practices that can be standardized and implemented across multiple products and locations. This role involves close collaboration with Process Development Leads, Directors, and Managers in Quality and Operations, and collaborating with other cross-functional leads in strategy, product planning, engineering, operations, sourcing, and the channel to identify opportunities and implement solutions.

Role & Responsibility

Quality Capability Assessment
  • Assess manufacturing process and production capability to identify critical quality areas for implementation of quality improving technologies

Quality Technology Market Intelligence
  • Identify technology trends and developments that will improve quality prevention and assurance
  • Continuously monitor customer, supplier, product, and industry technology trends such as Industry 4.0 and connected factory
  • Identifying innovative opportunities that will improve quality
  • Determine criteria to evaluate and determine potential impact to the business.

Quality Strategy
  • Develop the quality technology roadmap and implementation plan for the region.
  • Work with other functional areas to conduct feasibility studies for new processes.

Quality Process Design and Development
  • In alignment with the quality strategy, develop project charters and detailed project plans
  • Work with other departmental functions (service, product design, tooling, marketing, dealers, etc.) in completion of assigned projects
  • Participate in and assist in development of process specifications and control plans
  • Implement improvements.

Control Plan Development
  • Review and drive updates to standard work, processes, tools, measurements, checks, and training used to ensure complete and consistent work is performed
  • Ensure preventative maintenance and calibration schedules are developed for all implementations

Job Requirement

  • Education Required: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related fields.
  • Black Belt Certified
  • Travel: 25%-50%
  • Experience: 8+ Years preferred in Engineering, Project or Product Management, Operations, Quality, and/or Supplier Development
  • Advanced Measurement Systems training
  • Problem Solving Training (8d and DMAIC)
  • In-depth knowledge of Bobcat Products
  • Exceptional knowledge of manufacturing processes and systems
  • In-depth knowledge of Bobcat Production Processes
  • Expertise in Lean Six Sigma
  • Exceptional knowledge of Quality systems and processes
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional root cause analysis skills
  • Thorough understanding of the Key NA AOP and LRP goals and objectives
  • Knowledge and implementations of advanced manufacturing technologies

The Quality Manager of technology's role and responsibility is to work with the quality teams, operations teams, and functional areas to:
  • Identify the technology opportunities that will help to prevent defects.
  • Identify risks to project plans and to put plans in place to mitigate those risks.
  • Ensure progress is being made on the top priority quality technology projects.
  • Measure and monitor progress on quality technology roadmap and projects.

  • Securing investment funds and staffing to implement technologies after presenting strong financial justification and improved customer experience rationale
  • Gaining buy-in across all functional areas on priorities when other projects and initiatives are competing for resources
  • Continuous collaboration with the Managers and Directors in Quality and Operations to keep teams informed and aligned on priorities/resources
  • Keeping priority and focus on prevention activities when there is demand from sustaining activities
  • Quantifying business opportunities with solid information from the business and/benchmarks.
