JOB SUMMARY

Contribute to Sanford operations and processes while obtaining first hand experiences that align with the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Work collaboratively with organization leadership, enhancing knowledge and skills and improving the delivery of quality healthcare. Assist in the completion of projects and administrative duties while developing skills related to the assigned function and/or location. Attend training and development opportunities, learning about various processes and functions within the organization.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Collaborates with departmental associates and management. Researches business related data and generates and interprets basic analytics. Demonstrates a basic understanding of organizational project management practices and tools. Demonstrates the ability to speak, write and present clearly. Delivers formal and informal stand-up presentations or demos to audiences of all kinds. Identifies tasks or outputs that require accuracy and detail-level attention. Demonstrates an expectation that there will be ongoing shifts in demands and priorities. Demonstrates the ability to respond to change. Describes opportunities for taking initiative in the organization. Demonstrates an ability to meet own responsibilities.

DEPARTMENT DETAILS

The intern will work with the Director of Learning & Development and Senior Administrative Assistant to improve efficiencies in the acceptance and placement of students requesting clinical experiences at Sanford Bismarck. This includes the development of an electronic database to identify departments, preceptors, and student capacity with a corresponding calendar to manage and track student placements. The intern will work with the LEAD Center staff, directors, and managers to develop an understanding of the student placement process. Internship responsibilities include the development of an electronic database/system to efficiently manage and maximize student placements. Participate in 1-on-1 mentor sessions. Attend and lead meetings related to assigned projects. Work independently on assigned projects seeking mentor support as needed. Observe day-to-day LEAD Center operations to identify opportunities for increased efficiency and optimization of SharePoint. Support unplanned workforce development needs. Prioritize projects based on changes in organizational needs. The applicant must have high levels of personal organization and efficiency with the ability to support individuals and teams to enhance their organization and efficiency. Must have the ability to critically think, be flexible, work independently, prioritize tasks as needed, and have strong communication skills. Must be a junior or senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Business Administration, Healthcare Management/Administration, Communication, Management, Management Communication, Management Information Systems, Strategic Communication, Public Relations, or other degree field with emphasis on project management, communication, systems thinking, and strategic planning or an immediate graduate having received one of the previously listed majors. The intern must commit to the hours scheduled during the 12-week internship, with flexibility to the interns schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS

Current enrollment or recent graduate of an Associate's or Bachelor's degree program from an accredited college or university. Knowledge of healthcare industry preferred. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
