JOB SUMMARY

Contribute to Sanford operations and processes while obtaining first hand experiences that align with the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Work collaboratively with organization leadership, enhancing knowledge and skills and improving the delivery of quality healthcare. Assist in the completion of projects and administrative duties while developing skills related to the assigned function and/or location. Attend training and development opportunities, learning about various processes and functions within the organization.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Collaborates with departmental associates and management. Researches business related data and generates and interprets basic analytics. Demonstrates a basic understanding of organizational project management practices and tools. Demonstrates the ability to speak, write and present clearly. Delivers formal and informal stand-up presentations or demos to audiences of all kinds. Identifies tasks or outputs that require accuracy and detail-level attention. Demonstrates an expectation that there will be ongoing shifts in demands and priorities. Demonstrates the ability to respond to change. Describes opportunities for taking initiative in the organization. Demonstrates an ability to meet own responsibilities.

DEPARTMENT DETAILS

The Women’s Community Programs intern will work on the following: Grant programs and operations related to Women’s Health: Sanford Doula Program, Women’s Comprehensive Health Program, Women’s Resource Center Program, Women’s Health App, Community Education and Partnerships, and Women’s Health Delivery System Return on Investment Study. The intern will also participate in meetings with the Mayor’s Blue Ribbon Commission to decrease Substance Abuse and Dependence in Pregnancy and Postpartum, the March of Dimes, the YWCA, and the Jeremiah Program. Our intern will also help in the development of additional Women’s Community Education classes including Pets & Newborns Class, VBAC Class, GDM Class, High Risk Pregnancy Class, and Menopause Class Series. Additional day-to-day activities supporting women’s health initiatives as assigned. Our ideal candidate will have a knack for writing and research as well as a passion for Women’s Health. We’re looking for a grad student in a Master’s in Public Health or Healthcare Administration career track. Must have strong communication skills and proficient in Microsoft Office suite. The intern must commit to the hours scheduled during the 12-week internship, with flexibility to the interns schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS

Current enrollment or recent graduate of an Associate's or Bachelor's degree program from an accredited college or university. Knowledge of healthcare industry preferred. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
