This position works only as needed, covering vacations, illnesses, emergencies, and is not regularly scheduled. It does not receive benefits; in lieu of benefits, it receives an additional
15% flex differential.
The Neurodiagnostic tech performs EEG's, EMG's and Neurological tests within their scope of practice. The neurodiagnostic tech works with a variety of ages from newborn to the elderly. They work to ensure that physicians are notified when tests are complete and that tests get read in a timely manner.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Required:

The Neurodiagnostic tech performs EEG's, EMG's and Neurological tests within their scope of practice. The neurodiagnostic tech works with a variety of ages from newborn to the elderly. They work to ensure that physicians are notified when tests are complete and that tests get read in a timely manner.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Supports and models behaviors consistent with the mission, vision and values of Altru Health System.
- Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills with patients, patient's families, laboratory staff, physicians, and other members of the hospital staff.
- Explains the test procedure to the patient and family members present.
- Takes appropriate patient history according to standard operating procedures.
- Performs EEG, EMG, NCV and Evoked Potentials tests and troubleshoots methodology to obtain optimal recordings according to standard operating procedures. Demonstrates the ability to troubleshoot equipment problems and repair them or report them promptly to the appropriate person.
- Recognizes artifact (patient or environmental). Documents, eliminates, or takes proper measures to monitor artifact or excessive stimulus artifact in order to obtain optimal responses, i.e., EMG's, NCV's, EEG's and Evoked Potentials.
- Maintains knowledge of neuroanatomy and physiology, basic electronics and electrical safety. General knowledge of EEG instrumentation, pattern recognition, and various medical and pharmacological conditions that influence the EEG.
- Identifies high risk situations and takes appropriate action as demonstrated in reporting and documentation.
- Demonstrates knowledge, setup location and use of equipment for assigned area.
- Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Required:
- Associate's Degree in a medical field.
- Previous experience.
- Certification as a Technologist by the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalograph.
