JOB SUMMARY

Individuals in the Laundry Department will perform day to day tasks to maintain a clean environment in a health care organization. Laundry Technicians depending upon the location applying for will complete assigned tasks based on that locations standard processes and policies. Laundry individuals should be able to work independently or work in a team environment ensuring that use of equipment, methods, and techniques to handle laundry safely and appropriately such as; sorting, washing, any chemical application, or water temperature. Individuals should follow infection prevention guidelines to handling contaminated laundry according to organizational and healthcare industrial laundry standards. Individuals will participate in laundry collection and sorting, as well as the handling, storage and distribution of clean laundry properly based on that locations standard processes and policies. Laundry Technicians depending upon the location applying for will collect dirty linens (including but not limited to gowns, sheets, towels, blankets, and personal clothing) from wards, rooms, and medical offices; distributes clean and disinfected linens. Individuals based on that locations standard processes and policies will complete some of the following tasks; washing, drying, folding linens, sort and fold clothing, and complete the proper labelling process for the designated health care organization. Laundry Technicians depending on location will store and secure laundry supplies and equipment of a healthcare organization. All proper protective equipment (PPE) is to be used or worn as outlined in that locations standard processes and policies. Physical activities include but not limited to will require considerable use of arms and legs and moving of whole body; such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, twisting, squatting, and handling materials. Ability to lift and/or move up to 30-50lbs and push/pull up to 500lbs on flat surfaces or up and down ramps. This position will require the individual to be on their feet for the majority of their shift. Individuals may be exposed to certain levels of noise with the equipment in operation. Depending on location of position, work hours will vary depending on patient needs. This may include overtime, call, backup call, nights, days, weekends, and holidays.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Explains own role and responsibility within team. Identifies tasks or outputs that require accuracy and detail-level attention. Performs at least 2-3 concurrent activities without reducing productivity. Utilizes accepted procedures for problem analysis and resolution. Adapts easily to changing work demands. Administers appropriate first aid and follows emergency procedures. Demonstrates the ability to estimate the time and resources required to complete tasks. Explains the benefits of maintaining positive working relationships with associates Focuses activities on developing and maintaining positive customer relationships. Follows spill management standards, policies and procedures to ensure a timely and safe control Listens to feedback without defensiveness and uses it for own communication effectiveness.

DEPARTMENT DETAILS

This position will work 5:00 A.M. to 1:30 P.M. - OT as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

High School diploma or GED equivalent is preferred. Ability to use a computer, prior cleaning experience in a healthcare setting, knowledge of materials, equipment and methods used in cleaning is helpful. Depending on location, must have a valid drivers license and have a good driving record.
