Hiring Deparment:   UND Online, Office of the Provost and Academic Affairs

Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification: Salary dependent on experience; annual, full-time, benefitted, exempt staff position
Benefits: Includes single or family health care coverage (premiums paid for by the university), basic life insurance, EAP, retirement plan, tuition waiver, annual and sick leave.  Optional benefits available: supplemental life, dental, vision, flexible spending account, supplemental retirement plans.
Work Schedule:  Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-4:30 pm; some Saturdays for recruitment/retention efforts; and as required to complete duties

Position Summary:

The Digital Innovations Developer will work in a highly collaborative and positive manner to further develop online learning opportunities by using traditional and novel data sources to suggest, create, design, develop, and launch digital applications necessary to improve training methods for online instruction, create online course assets to facilitate student learning, enhance student recruitment and retention for online programs, and better integrate learning objectives and assessment and evaluation. The successful applicant will have the ability to work independently to meet deadlines and scheduled deliveries, and to move swiftly from concept to theory to action.

The position would have the following duties:

  • Developing advanced tools and services to establish an adaptive learning environment for UND Online students;
  • Leveraging market research, business intelligence analysis systems, social media technologies, IT solutions, and engineering subject matter expertise to design, develop, and implement information-sharing exchange and needs- solutions;
  • Designing data modeling/analysis services used to mine enterprise systems and applications for knowledge and information that enhances business processes; and
  • Generating original information and knowledge assets.

  • Willingness, and strong desire, to learn new skills, languages, technology processes, and software regularly

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, or related field
  • Exceptional analytical/critical thinking abilities - must be able to analyze proposed technological solutions to not only understand how mechanisms work, but to also develop methods of effectively testing and evaluating technologies
  • Excellent research skills - must be able to identify relevant data sources for information about emerging technologies to gain an understanding of how things work, and be willing to dig in and take things apart to figure out how they work
  • Experience with the evaluation of emerging technology and /or experience as a technology innovator or maker
  • Experience with plurality of languages, operating systems, and databases (Python, R, Hadoop, etc.)
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with adaptive learning process creation and management in a higher education setting
  • Experiment with chat bot management and/or implementations
