JOB SUMMARY

Drive specific and designated vehicle to transport and deliver goods, services, equipment and/or materials in liquid, lose, or packaged form in a safe and professional manner in accordance with Sanford's mission, vision, and values. Drive a single vehicle over 26,001 pounds GVWR to transport.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Check all load-related documentation for completeness and accuracy. Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order. Couple or uncouple trailers by changing trailer jack positions, connecting or disconnecting air or electrical lines, or manipulating fifth-wheel locks. Follow appropriate safety procedures for transporting dangerous goods. Inspect loads to ensure that cargo is secure. Load or unload trucks or help others with loading or unloading, using special loading-related equipment or other equipment as necessary. Maintain logs of working hours or of vehicle service or repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations. Operate equipment, such as truck cab computers, CB radios, phones, or global positioning systems (GPS) equipment to exchange necessary information with bases, supervisors, or other drivers. Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as adding oil, fuel, or radiator fluid or performing minor repairs. Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles.

DEPARTMENT DETAILS

This full time position for is for the Garbage Truck and the employee will be home nightly. Hours will be 6:30am - 2:30pm, weekdays with an occasional Saturday.

QUALIFICATIONS

Class A, B or C Commercial Drivers License as applicable to the position, and full compliance with DOT regulations required. If position requires Hazmat endorsement, must pass a Federal background check with Transportation Security Administration. Must maintain all required endorsements. If incumbent does not hold required endorsements, must obtain with six months of employment. Must maintain valid DOT medical certification card. Must have High school diploma or equivalent. Must have an understanding of Department of Transportation (DOT) driver compliance requirements and endorsements. Driver history must comply with Sanford driver qualification standards for insurability.
