This position is responsible for the immediate supervision of the Housekeeping Supervisors and to oversee and ensure the quality of the Housekeeping Services that are provided for our guests for the Shooting Star Casino, Hotel & Event Center. In all interactions, the position is responsible for making STAR service to guests and fellow team members a first priority.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides exceptional, STAR Service to ensure overall guest satisfaction.

    Performs the position-specific STAR service expectations, as outlined by the department. 

Manages the selection, training, development and performance of assigned staff (up to 60 team members) to retain a motivated, professional workforce for Shooting Star Casino, Hotel & Event Center.

    Recruits and selects applicants for job vacancies considering the requirements of the job, and the skills/abilities of applicants.
    Establishes and communicates job responsibilities and performance expectations to assure mutual understanding of desired results.
    Assesses Supervisory and Lead team member’s performance, provides positive and constructive feedback on an ongoing basis to reinforce desired results.
    Identifies training and/or development opportunities that will assist the team member in achieving enhanced job performance and/or career objectives.
    Verify hours worked for assigned team members and authorized wages paid.
    Conduct room inspections to identify quality of room cleanliness, according to established standards.  Documents any deficiency through proper procedures.
    Attend supervisor meetings to represent the housekeeping department and keep up to date on all upcoming events.
    Conduct regular staff meetings to inform, educate and ensure that staff needs are being met.
    Prepares room forecasts to plan staffing needs to assure timely service of rooms.  Communicates these plans to Supervisors in an effective manner.

Maintains the quality of stay for Shooting Star Casino, Hotel and Event Center Guests by reviewing the room attendant performance standards and inspecting rooms for quality of service.

    Partners with Housekeeping Supervisors to inspect and monitor  rooms to initiate updates and improvements as needed.
    Oversee par levels to ensure adequate supply is on hand to meet guest needs and ensure a comfortable stay at Shooting Star Casino, Hotel & Event Center.

    Conduct a weekly audit on the count and report inventory that is currently on hand for items; such as terry, linens, coffee makers, luggage racks, lamps, irons, ironing boards, room fixtures, etc.
    Conduct a weekly inspection with Hotel Maintenance Staff to ensure that potential and pending issues are dealt with expediently and with high quality control standards. 
    Maintaining a safe environment by ensuring health and safety standards are met for our guests by acting professionally and efficiently to staff and guests concerns. 
    Establish a Deep Cleaning Process Rotation with providing standards to follow and adhere to. 

Providing an effective workforce to ensure a positive guest experience. 

    Minimizing staff turnover through training, engagement processes, setting job expectations and creating a safe environment. 
    Establish personal development and growth plans for each housekeeping team member. 
    Maintain effective communication with leadership and staff to ensure a high level of guest satisfaction. 
    Creating effective procedures for housekeeping staff for accountability, growth and advancement.

Works collaboratively with the Director(s) of Hospitality Department to develop and review the annual budgets to assure the effective and efficient use of financial resources.

    Review applicable data such as Monthly Financial Statements.
    Anticipate and plans for needed resources to support departmental programs and systems.
    Present recommended and proposed budget changes to the Director of Hospitality and secures approval.
    Review the budgets on a monthly basis, keeps the Hospitality Director informed of any major variances from budget.

Listens and responds to guest concerns in a timely fashion to maintain a high level of guest satisfaction.

    Resolves guest issues or refers guests to the appropriate department or function for issue resolution.

Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.

    Cleans and sanitizes guest rooms to enhance the guest experience at Shooting Star Casino, Hotel & Event Center.
    Ensures guest rooms are properly stocked with amenities to ensure a comfortable stay at Shooting Star Casino, Hotel & Event Center.
    Cleans hotel and event center common areas as assigned to enhance the overall experience and enlighten the guest’s stay.

 
Minimum Requirements
 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality or Business Administration with 2 years of hotel experience preferred, an Associate’s Degree in a related field with 4-6 years of hotel experience or 8 years of experience at Hotel Management Level. 

Certificates, Licenses & Designations

Must meet licensing requirements as prescribed by the Tribal State Compact for Gaming. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

    Knowledge of and skill in using a personal computer and related software including requisition order program.

    Knowledge of Hotel policies and procedures regarding housekeeping.
    Skill in basic math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, percentages, and decimals.

    Skill in and ability to prepare written materials such as correspondence, reports and evaluations.
    Skill of receiving a message, understanding the intended message and giving feedback to ensure team members and guests expectations are met.

    Ability to constructively evaluate the work of others and provide feedback.
    Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals, safety rules, and operation and maintenance instructions. 

    Ability to work cooperatively within a group to make the work of the group successful and effective.

    Ability to follow procedures and give attention to detail

    Ability to frequently stand for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).
    Ability to frequently walk for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).
    Ability to frequently stoop or bend.
    Ability to frequently squat.

    Ability to frequently climb step stools.

    Ability to frequently lift and carry over 50 pounds.

    Ability to operate vacuum and carpet cleaning equipment.
    Ability to use small hand tools for repairs.

WORKING CONDITIONS

    Frequent exposure to moderate noise level.

    Continuous exposure to moderate concentration levels of tobacco smoke..
    Occasional exposure to blood borne pathogens.
    Frequent exposure to dust, dirt and debris.

  • *Shift differential of additional $1.25/hr for swing and night shift and an additional weekend differential of $1.25/hr. Requirements based on position. Available for hours worked after a team member completes their 90-day probationary time frame.
