Job Details
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) obtains chief complaint from patients; identifies significant changes or high risk situations in patient's condition and takes appropriate actions; prepares patients for exams and assists with procedures; administers medications; demonstrates proficient skill in equipment used; provides appropriate education and documents response; takes accurate and complete phone messages; completes all documentation; assists with the discharge process; transports and/or transfers patients; notifies Manager/Supervisor of any potential problems; demonstrates the ability to adjust own schedule to meet fluctuation in workload, and is committed to ensuring an exceptional patient/family experience. Patients cared for include infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatric.
Primary Job Duties:
- Obtains chief complaint from patients using information from patient/patient's family.
- Identifies significant changes or high-risk situations in patient's condition and takes appropriate actions as evidenced in reporting and documentation.
- Prepares patients for exams and assists with procedures and tests according to standard operating procedure.
- Administers medication in accordance with established protocols and standards.
- Demonstrates proficient skill in equipment used for assigned area.- Provides patient/patient's family with appropriate education based on identified needs to optimize patient/patient's family understanding and documents response according to standard operating procedure.
- Takes accurate and complete phone messages and relays information in a prompt manner.
- Completes all documentation according to standard operating procedure.
- Assists with the discharge process according to standard operating procedure.
- Transports and/or transfers patients within or outside of the department according to standard operating procedure.
- Notifies Manager/Supervisor of any potential problems in regard to patient complaints, unsatisfactory outcomes, special needs or requests.
- Demonstrates the ability to adjust own schedule to meet fluctuation in workload and communicates this information to appropriate staff.
- Completes charges for care/procedures done by the provider according to standard operating procedure.
Required:
• Licensed Practical Nurse.
• Licensed by the North Dakota Board of Nursing or licensed by a member of the "Compact State Agreement".
• Nurses assigned to contact Minnesota residents must obtain a Minnesota license from the Minnesota Board of Nursing prior to making contact.
• Successful completion of the functional assessment.
Preferred:
• One to two years clinical nursing experience, preferably in a clinic setting.
