JOB SUMMARY

Contribute to Sanford operations and processes while obtaining first hand experiences that align with the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Work collaboratively with organization leadership, enhancing knowledge and skills and improving the delivery of quality healthcare. Assist in the completion of projects and administrative duties while developing skills related to the assigned function and/or location. Attend training and development opportunities, learning about various processes and functions within the organization.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Collaborates with departmental associates and management. Researches business related data and generates and interprets basic analytics. Demonstrates a basic understanding of organizational project management practices and tools. Demonstrates the ability to speak, write and present clearly. Delivers formal and informal stand-up presentations or demos to audiences of all kinds. Identifies tasks or outputs that require accuracy and detail-level attention. Demonstrates an expectation that there will be ongoing shifts in demands and priorities. Demonstrates the ability to respond to change. Describes opportunities for taking initiative in the organization. Demonstrates an ability to meet own responsibilities.

DEPARTMENT DETAILS

Volunteer Services provides services to the medical center and clinic through volunteers. Interns will assist in the day-to-day operations of volunteer services. Included in this role is interviewing potential volunteers, ensuring adequate volunteer coverage and scheduling for departments. The intern will also provide clerical support to the recognition team. Intern will also help to organize requests for gift shop funds and provide the volunteer board with an agenda and minutes.
Internship Responsibilities:
• Tracking Fall student volunteers weekly and documenting the experience
• Attend meetings with the Director; such as the Volunteer board, recognition meetings. Patient Satisfaction
• Monitor the volunteer email and responding to questions and follow up
• Monitoring the Volgestics web site for new application, interviewing applicant and scheduling
• Orientate new volunteers
• Assure that volunteer schedules are up to date and accurate
• Assist in Gift Shop in checking in product
• Assisting in the recognitions monthly Hero Celebration
position with the serenity cart
• Interview and place new volunteers
• Assist in planning and coordinating a Volunteer Education Day Event and Christmas Event
• Delivering flower to patients, working in the gift shop with customers
• Placing catering orders outside of Sanford
Intern Qualifications:
• Must be self-directed with a high level of accountability and minimal supervision. Must be able to multi-task
• Must be able to utilize all office equipment person computers and application software, printer, copier, multi-line telephone system.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills are a must including English usage, grammar, punctuation and style.
• Must be a Junior or Senior pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Social Work, Business Management or an immediate graduate having received one of the previously listed majors.

QUALIFICATIONS

Current enrollment or recent graduate of an Associate's or Bachelor's degree program from an accredited college or university.
Knowledge of healthcare industry preferred. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
