  • The Administrator on Duty reports pertinent information to oncoming supervisor; monitors patient census, assists units in assignment of patient rooms and confers with each shift regarding census; interacts with patients, patient's families, physicians, employees, Managers, Administrative Directors, legal counsel, Risk Management and other departments regarding concerns that arise; assumes responsibility and has the authority for making administrative decisions on evenings, nights, weekends and holidays in the absence of the Manager and the Administrative Director; makes rounds; initiates actions and communicates with appropriate Manager any unusual situations, physician/staff concerns and patient concerns; assigns personnel; calls in additional staff as needed; enters staffing changes and personnel assignments into computer; obtains supplies and equipment from departments when closed; demonstrates computer knowledge; performs complicated IV starts; schedules surgery after hours and on holidays, notifies on call surgery staff, anesthesia, MDA, SPD, PAR and patients and prints preference list of scheduled surgical cases; schedules Cardiac Cath cases and stress tests after hours and on holidays; initiates trauma procedure; assists family in viewing patients in the morgue; initiates donor program; responds to emergencies; responds appropriately to news media and assists in after hours employee health and infection control activities. Patients cared for includes those in the following age groups: infant, children, adolescent, adult and geriatric.

    KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED :

    Required:
    • Registered Nurse.
    • Licensed by the North Dakota Board of Nursing or licensed by a member of the "Compact State Agreement".
    • Must obtain Minnesota license from the Minnesota Board of Nursing within eight (8) weeks from their first day of work (telephone calls from patients calling from Minnesota can not be taken from any nurse unless they have obtained their Minnesota license).
    • Demonstrates leadership and management qualities.
    • Five (5) years staff nurse experience or critical care experience
    • Successful completion of functional assessment.

    Preferred:
    • BSN
    • Will obtain Notary Public certification within six (6) months of hire date.
    • Previous Critical care experience
    • BLS
    • ACLS
    • PALS
    • TNCC
