Position Description:
The NDSU Department of Public Health ( DPH ) seeks an individual to lead the maternal and child health and health equity research and evaluation for the department. This individual will become part of an active research team that engages in community based participatory research projects as well as the evaluation of federal home visiting programs. The DPH has an active, diverse group of public health professionals and scholars who seek to improve the health of North Dakota, the region, and beyond. NDSU DPH values diversity and inclusion; therefore, we seek an individual who shares these values and will work to achieve health equity through community engaged research. This position will be responsible for 1) conducting research and evaluation activities, including: health equity, maternal and child health, empowerment evaluation, self-healing communities, adverse childhood experiences, trauma-informed approaches, translational research, 2) maintaining an active research program in public health and present and publish work at local, regional, and national meetings and in peer-reviewed refereed journals, 3) investigating and supporting development of Center(s) of Excellence for the DPH , 4) identifying opportunities for collaboration on grants and contracts, and contributing to conceptualizing projects and writing grant/contract proposals, and 5) managing research and evaluation contributions of staff assigned to PI/co-PI grants.

Minimum Qualifications:
PhD. in human development or other life course related field;
Evidence of scholarly contributions in the field of health equity, maternal child health and adverse childhood experiences, including external grants, peer-reviewed publications and professional meeting presentations;
Demonstrated experience with empowerment evaluation;
Demonstrated experience with trauma-informed approaches;
Demonstrated experience with translational research;
Demonstrated administrative experience including but not limited to managing staff, budget and grant management, and contract proposals;
Effective oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Established and currently funded research program;
Demonstrated experience working with northern plains tribal communities in research, teaching or service;
Demonstrated understanding of issues related to American Indian maternal and child health.
