JOB SUMMARY

Overall responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the long-term care facility nursing department, including: overseeing the quality of resident care, program/care management, environmental safety, finance, facility planning, and responding to and identifying needs to ensure regulatory compliance. Will coordinate all aspects of the nursing department operations to ensure that each resident achieves highest functional level in accordance with accepted long-term care standards and regulations. Performs necessary delegation and coordination for clinical, operational, and managerial activities to accomplish the objectives of the facility. Effectively manages and directs the work of individuals or teams with proven leadership, excellent interpersonal, and communication skills.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Builds approaches for balancing business, quality and compliance goals while catering to audience. Champions behaviors that inspire cohesiveness and move the organization to reach a vision. Creates initiatives that foster communication, directness and spirit of cooperation. Develops and coordinates recruiting and staffing plans in line with corporate policies. Develops and manages initiatives for creating an environment that values customer service. Establishes policies and best practices that support the value of and facilitate continuous transformation across the facility. Monitors financial world for best practices and emerging ideas related to financial management. Represents the organization faithfully and accurately with internal and external audiences. Sets clear expectations of self and team.

DEPARTMENT DETAILS

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred. Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program preferred, including, but not limited to, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA). Three years of nursing management experience, two of which must be at the manager or higher level. On year long term care or subacute care experience is required. Thorough knowledge of the nursing practice act and standards of nursing care, and a working knowledge of administrative and management techniques. Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers required or within the first 60 days of hire into position.
