The Process Improvement Project lead is responsible for engaging, evaluating, and leading process improvement initiatives within the company. This position will work very closely within the operations teams and apply standard Continuous Improvement tools and concepts. This position will work with multiple operations departments to study, understand, and evaluate business processes and identify waste and opportunities for improvement.

Job Summary

The Process Improvement (PI) Project Lead is responsible for managing process improvement projects across the organization and providing a wide range of support to the organization's continuous improvement program. This position provides coaching, teaching, and leadership on change at all levels of the organization.

Essential Functions

Key Duties/Responsibilities/Accountabilities
  • Leads and manages improvement projects including scoping and defining the projects, developing project plans, and achieving results.
  • Engages appropriate people, leads improvement teams, and applies effective change management techniques.
  • Executes projects with a heavy emphasis on achieving measurable improvements in process efficiencies and cost reduction.
  • Manages multiple projects in multiple areas of the organization as needed.
  • Takes a position and advocates a course of action in non-routine or complex situations.
  • Organizes work, sets priorities, and determines resources requirements.
  • Provides advice and assistance to management in developing project plans and improvement strategies.
  • Utilizes excellent interpersonal skills and strategies to guide others toward the accomplishment of strategic objectives.
  • Assists in developing and maintaining tools and resources for the CI and performance area to support process improvement projects and initiatives.
  • Demonstrates a combination of listening, communication, problem solving, and facilitations skills to thoroughly understand and diagnose customer issues.

Requirements

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or closely related field OR equivalent work experience
  • 2 years' process improvement experience


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 5 years' process improvement experience
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification
  • Additional project management certification


Environment and Cognitive/Physical Demands
  • Office Environment
  • Ability to read, hear, speak, keyboard, reason, communicate effectively and problem solve
  • Requires prolonged sitting and telephone usage
  • Requires the use of office equipment such as computer terminals, telephones, copiers and printers
  • Infrequent lifting up to 15 pounds
  • Infrequent stooping
