Job Details

The Central Sterile Department Technician receives supply orders and follows through to delivery. This position prioritizes and follows up on back orders, verifies inventory, enters tracking information into the computer, and processes items for decontamination and sterilization. The Central Sterile Department Technician documents all pertinent information as required in the various essential job functions.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
CSD Tech I: $14.04-17.55 / hour
Supports and models behaviors consistent with the mission, vision and values of Altru Health System.
  1. Demonstrates the ability to prioritize job duties and requirements in order to meet the customer's needs according to established procedures.
  2. Performs Sterilization Procedures according to standard operating procedure.
  3. Verifies various supply inventory and reorders according to requisition/guidelines. Conducts periodic inventories of supplies as needed.
  4. Inventories, assembles and distributes supplies according to pick tickets and surgery schedule and according to standard operating procedure, i.e., instrument sets, case carts, equipment, etc.
  5. Performs clean and soiled rounds to all designated areas at the appropriate times and according to standard operating procedures.
  6. Completes all Quality Assurance Integrity checks for all processed instruments, equipment and sterile supplies according to standard operating procedures.
  7. Completes recall and collection of sterilization variances are completed according to standard operating procedure.
  8. Enters information into computer according to standard operating procedures, i.e., ordering, surgery schedule, pick tickets, set listings, etc.
  9. Documents all pertinent information as required in the performance of various job duties. Utilizes proper forms and documents in a neat and legible manner.
  10. Assures that work area is kept neat, orderly and decontaminated after each shift.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
CSD Tech II: $14.75-18.43 / hour
  1. Completes all essential job functions of the CSD Tech I.
  2. Assembles reprocessable items for sterilization according to standard operating procedure, i.e., instruments, supplies, equipment and utensils, etc.
  3. Inventories and identifies discrepancies in patient case supplies, implant trays, carts, etc.
CSD Tech III: $16.26-20.32 / hour
  1. Completes all essential job functions of the CSD Tech I and II.
  2. Performs all Decontaminating Procedures according to standard operating procedure.
  3. Receives, inventories, issues, stocks and delivers items according to standard operating procedures.
  4. Processes and follows up on back orders according to standard operating procedure, i.e., screw trays, ordering supplies, etc.
CSD Tech IV: $16.26-20.32 / hour.
  1. Completes all essential job functions of the CSD Tech I, II, and III.
  2. Maintains certification as a Certified Registered Central Services Technician or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician.

CSD Tech V: 17.92-22.40 / hour

1. Completes all essential job functions of the CSD Tech I-IV.
2. Maintains certification as a Certified Registered Central Services Technician or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician.

Required:

  • High School graduate or GED.
  • Successful completion of the functional assessment.

Preferred:

  • Certified Registered Central Services Technician or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician. (Required for CSD Tech IV.)
  • Medical terminology and previous experience in the area of receiving and stocking supplies.
