Explore Alexandria Tourism is seeking candidates for a full-time Sales and Services Coordinator to grow Alexandria’s profile as a meetings, conventions and sports destination. This lively and rewarding position will actively seek out new potential groups, coordinate group services as well as be a general resource for tourism and hospitality.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Proactively identify, seek out and attract new meetings, conventions and sports events that generate a positive tourism-related economic impact on the Alexandria Area
  • Be a resource to meeting and sports planners
  • Work with various groups and facilities to identify key growth opportunities
  • Coordinate services to meetings, conventions and sports groups to ensure a positive experience in the community
  • Make strategic sales decisions in adherence to the Strategic Plan, based on market, need and available accommodations
  • Proactively and creatively identify new service opportunities to assist Alexandria’s image as a hospitable meeting, convention and sports destination
  • Coordinate and partner with various properties and facilities to identify needs and opportunities
  • Coordinate and partner with sporting event groups and organizers to identify opportunities and growth within new and existing sports tournaments
  • Fulfill long-range sales goals
  • Maintain and update databases
  • Be a resource and support to stakeholders in tourism
  • Assist in digital online management
  • Facilitation of Funding Request program
  • Timely reporting to Director and Board
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or comparable experience
  • Previous sales and service experience highly desired
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Seasoned planning and organizational skills
  • Exquisite attention to detail
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Thorough, organized and detail-oriented approach to work
  • Proven ability to work effectively with colleagues, partners and members
  • Strong work ethic, drive and passion
  • Integrity, high ethical standards, ingenuity, flexibility, compassion, dedication, enthusiasm, humor, and energy are also key attributes that will be valued
  • Demonstrated ability to gain the respect and support of various partners, community leaders and decision makers
  • Computer literacy and competency with Microsoft Office and fast learning curve for new software systems. Other technology competencies a plus
  • Experience in business, nonprofits, sales or related field
  • A valid driver’s license is required as the Sales and Services Coordinator must be able to travel to attend conferences, meetings, training, or other events as required to acquire and maintain proficiency in fulfilling the responsibilities of the position
