The payroll specialist prepares and distributes a company's payroll, prepares any necessary tax documents, and makes sure that all hours, benefits, and deductions are logged appropriately and that all payroll accounts remain balanced.

Essential Functions

1. Reviews timecards for hourly employees to make sure there are no errors.
2. Ensures that all benefits and insurance premiums are deducted from paychecks accurately listed on paystubs.
3. Makes sure all payroll accounts are balanced.
4. Enters employee's personal information into payroll database.
5. Prepares and submits payroll documents.
6. Adheres to all state and federal regulations for payroll processing.
7. Responds to inquiries from employees about salaries and wages.
8. Processes overtime payments.
9. Resolves any discrepancies surrounding payroll issues.
10. Processes W-4s for tax purposes.
11. Distributes W-2s for tax purposes.
12. Prepares year-end payroll reports.
13. Keeps up to date on changes in company tax status
14. Sets up Direct Deposits
15. Keeps detailed and organized payroll records.
16. Will work closely with the Human Resource Department to ensure accurate employee benefits.
17. Prepare, reconcile and submit bi-weekly, federal and state tax payments utilizing payroll software for preparation and reconciliation purposes and on federal and state websites for Payments.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This position is typically Monday through Friday 8am - 4pm.

Required Education, Experience & KSA's
1. An associate degree in human resources, business administration or affiliated area of experience
2. CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification) recommended.
3. A minimum of 2 years practical experience with exempt and non-exempt payroll processing.
4. Knowledge of Accounting principles, practices, PGCCS and departmental policies and procedures, methods of bookkeeping, recordkeeping, payroll, and/or accounting, office practices and procedures required.
