This is a part-time position(20 hrs/wk)thatwill be responsible for covering the Alexandria and Morris territory.

Scope:

• Lead volunteer group for Knute Nelson’s Hospice program for region to ensure patient and families have strong volunteer support. This includes providing volunteer orientation, ongoing volunteer training, developing new ways to provide volunteer support and programming and coordinating volunteer visits.
• Recruit new volunteers for the Hospice agency by collaborating with marketing team and community partners.
• Work closely with patients and their families, volunteers, and staff. Work as liaison between volunteers and staff members to coordinate volunteer visits.

Key Responsibilities:

• Volunteer Recruitment, Training and Management - Serve as point of contact for Hospice volunteers while working closely with the hospice interdisciplinary team. Recruit and motivate volunteers to achieve mission and enhance lifestyles of Hospice patients. Provide orientation and training to Hospice volunteers. Recognize volunteers for their work and efforts and supports them while volunteering. Prepares volunteer cost savings report to ensure regulation is met; update and maintain all volunteer files required by regulators and the organization. Represent the volunteer group on the interdisciplinary team and participate in team meetings. Utilize the Hospice software for volunteer management, including visit management. Researches and implements new volunteer-led programs that enhance the quality of life for Hospice patients and families; trains volunteers and staff accordingly.
• Bereavement Support – Coordinate and assist in the delivery of bereavement services to families, caregivers and the community. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to carry out the bereavement plan of care.
• Other Duties as Assigned - Participate and assist in the volunteer and bereavement events that are put on by the Hospice program. Attend interdisciplinary group meetings and team meetings, as needed, and be a member of the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) committee. Assist with special projects and tasks as requested by the Vice President of Home Care & Hospice and Director of Hospice. The duties and responsibilities listed above are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.

Education and Experience Required:

• Experience in the healthcare field preferred.
• Must be organized and have strong computer skills.
• Must complete and pass a state required background study.
• Able to physically perform the duties required by the position.
• Required to have the ability to read, write and speak English well enough to communicate with staff, residents and visitors.
