Forum Communications Company is looking for an experienced Safety Manager to oversee the company's safety program, policies, and procedures. The Safety Manager will work with each location’s safety committees, safety contacts, and/or business managers to ensure compliance and training of all FCC’s safety programs. The Safety Manager will inspect properties, evaluate physical conditions, and promote safety programs to help identify and mitigate potential hazards.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations. Works with FCC worker’s compensation carrier to ensure compliance standards are met.
  • Inspects FCC’s facilities to evaluate and detect existing and/or potential safety and health hazards. Determines corrective operating action to take and follows up with the Business Manager or General Manager to ensure issues have been resolved.
  • Plans and implements safety programs to train managers and employees on proper safety procedures. Observe business operations to determine if safety issues and hazards are present that could cause injury and/or losses.
  • Analyze history of worker’s compensation claims and incidents. May inspect the scene of accidents to determine root causes and to help develop preventative measures. Prepare written report of findings and recommendations for corrective action plan.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors activities and programs, in conjunction with the Company, to control losses and improve safety.
  • Provides informational materials and coordinates training to include compliance with safety standards, codes and regulations.
  • Works with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) to help ensure company compliance.
  • Coordinates and manages auto, property and general liability claims along with their ties to the safety program.
  • Travels to FCC locations to maintain and support FCC’s Safety Program (up to 25%).
  • Maintains regular and punctual attendance.
  • Assists with Human Resources related functions as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Safety Management, Industrial Hygiene, or related discipline.
  • Two to four years experience in human resources and/or safety.
  • Proven experience as a safety manager.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:

  • Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion.
  • Solid understanding of both state and federal safety and health guidelines.
  • Ability to produce reports and develop relevant policies.
  • Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment.
  • Excellent organizational and motivational skills.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and a driving record that is insurable by the company.
  • Must carry an acceptable level of vehicle insurance as required by the company.
  • Safety designations such as ASP, CSP, OHST, etc. are helpful.
