Engineering Technician
Minnkota Power is seeking qualified applicants for an Engineering Technician at the Milton R. Young Station located in Center, ND.
The Engineering Technician works with all the plant records and drawings and must have good organizational abilities. It is essential to establish a broad basic knowledge of the plant equipment and system functionality to accurately provide information when requested. Provide support during outages in the form of inspections. Monitor Engineering project timelines and budgets using Primavera P6.
Position requires, at minimum, an associate degree from any technical field preferably with a drafting component. Some experience in AutoCAD. Plant positions, such as the Mechanic, Technician, or Operator positions could provide useful plant background.

Essential Responsibilities

  1. Computer aided drafting and design
  1. Provide computer aided design and drafting of civil, communications, electrical, and mechanical drawings
  2. Develop drawings using discipline specific design software packages
  3. Utilize and maintain drafting standards
  4. Provide efficient plotting and preparation of project packages
  5. Develop wiring and panel layout drawings from electrical schematics
  6. Provide customization of AutoCAD program
  1. Storage/filing of plant technical records
  1. Scan and add incoming hardcopy technical documents to the document management database
  2. Add incoming electronic technical documents to the document management database
  3. Maintain and update project hard copy files
  4. Retrieve technical information and drawings for requesting personnel
  5. Contact vendors, OEM, etc. for equipment information
  1. Assist in the development of document management database
  1. Scan and add archived hardcopy documents to the document management database as needed
  2. Format electronic documents and add to the document management database
  1. Assist in the development and maintenance of training information
  1. Work with training staff to design, develop, and support records used in training
  2. Provide training on reading drawings for operations and maintenance personnel
  3. Provide training to others on accessing the document management database
  4. Assist training staff as needed
  5. Develop permanent labels for manuals and equipment
  1. Assist with engineering work and inspections
  1. Assist engineering staff with design or testing functions
  2. Assist with engineering project tasks as assigned
  3. Provide on-site inspections as needed
  1. Capital project management
    1. Assists project managers in recordkeeping of projects
    2. Monthly update of project cost and progression information
    3. Assist in the development and maintain project schedules using Primavera P6 software

Job Qualification Standards

Education and Training
  • Position requires, at minimum, an associate degree from any technical field preferably with a drafting component.
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license.

Experience
  • Some experience in AutoCAD.
  • Plant positions, such as the Mechanic, Technician, or Operator positions could provide useful plant background.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is exposed to an office environment indoors, and will travel outdoors to multiple locations dependent on work.
