Hiring Department:  Center for Rural Health, School of Medicine & Health Sciences Minimum Salary/Position Classification:  $35,000 plus/year,  Full-time, Benefited,  Exempt
Benefits: Includes single or family health care coverage (premiums paid for by the university), basic life insurance, EAP, retirement plan, tuition waiver, annual and sick leave.  Optional benefits available: supplemental life, dental, vision, flexible spending account, supplemental retirement plans. 
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm :  Must be able to travel occasionally to national, regional, or local events/meetings.

The UND Center for Rural Health is seeking to fill an entry-level position. If you are a recent college graduate or expect to graduate soon, this may be the job for you! The Research Specialist is a professional staff position which will provide research support to health workforce development activities and other projects as assigned.  Additional information about the UND Center for Rural Health can be viewed at:  http://ruralhealth.und.edu/ Duties and responsibilities include: Coordinate and facilitate data collection and data analysis. 

Coordinate survey development and implement procedures for data collection Create on-line surveys using Qualtrics Administer paper copy and on-line surveys Input data when utilizing hardcopy surveys Create and maintain a schedule and history of surveys conducted Clean and analyze primary and secondary data Conduct interviews Assist with focus groups Transcribe and assist with analysis of interviews and/or focus groups Prepare written reports of data findings, including charts and graphs


Project coordination and support.

Provide technical assistance to healthcare stakeholders Work with statewide partners (scheduling meetings, minutes, report writing, work plan activities) Coordinate special projects related to program objectives Conduct literature reviews as necessary to inform outcome reporting Plan, organize and direct administrative activities


Information dissemination and expansion of knowledge base.

Correspond with rural health stakeholders Strengthen relations with rural health stakeholders, administrators, providers, healthcare partners and others Public speaking (presentations and posters) Dissemination of information to rural health stakeholders Participate on committees Keep current on rural health topics


This position will:

  • Collaborate effectively with project staff to meet shared goals and be dedicated to quality work.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Sociology, Psychology, or health related field.  Will consider other degrees with relevant experience.  Experience with data collection and entry, survey construction, data interpretation and analysis, and report writing. (Experience may be related to academic coursework.) Experience with Microsoft  Excel and PowerPoint.  Experience with statistical programs (e.g. SAS, SPSS, or equivalent). Preferred qualifications:

Experience in survey implementation. Experience in statistical analysis. Experience with the internet, search engines, reference software, and online survey tools (e.g. PubMed, SurveyMonkey or Qualtrics, Refworks or equivalent). Experience in grant program coordination. Experience in presenting information to large and small groups.
