Job Details

Technical Job Functions

  • Set-up, adjust and operate all machines in assigned area. Operate high precision machines performing required operations.
  • Instruct personnel in the proper setup procedures, including the use of correct tooling, methods for machine adjustments, measuring devices/techniques, process control methods, etc.
  • Solve and/or participate in solution of issues related to process, documentation, machine and quality, including recommendations for new equipment or processes.
  • Troubleshoot, repair and perform preventative maintenance in an efficient and safe manner.
  • Observe established safe working and housekeeping procedures.  Promptly correct and/or notify Supervisor of hazardous situations.
  • Participate in and take proactive roles in AS9100, ISO and Lean Manufacturing methodologies for problem prevention, corrective action, identification, and solution verification.

Authorities and Responsibilities              

  • Assume other projects and responsibilities from time to time as directed.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is presumed to be an essential function of all employment.
  • Report to Production Supervisor. Has contact with internal and external customers and co-workers. Must have ability to compromise and negotiate and be an open communicator about work related issues.
  • Set-up and maintain assembly equipment and machines. Define and establish setup procedures for new product and/or processes. Perform preventive maintenance as required. Keep inventory of replacement parts, minimal supervision. Errors would result in scrap or rework of product.
  • Employee may be responsible for the generation, labeling, storage, and other general management of hazardous waste. Employee requires “Hazardous Waste Management Training” once per year in accordance with Minn. R. 7045.0292 if job responsibilities include handling hazardous waste.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Attributes (KSAAS)

Knowledge

  • Ability to satisfactorily complete and implement all OJT and required trainings.
  • Ability to understand the organization structure, businesses and sites, and applying that knowledge to daily tasks, communications and assignments.
  • Demonstrates high degree of mechanical ability, and ability to set up and repair a large variety of equipment and machines.
  • Demonstrate basic skills in using common hand tools and gauges and pneumatics.
  • Demonstrates ability to repeatedly test precise tolerances using a variety of test equipment provided.
  • Ability to learn and use basic statistical concepts.
  • Ability to interpret and understand engineering drawings and assembly documentation.
  • Ability to determine if parts and assemblies meet quality standards.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability.

Analytical, Business and Technical

  • Ability to apply job knowledge and skills to improve productivity, quality and timeliness, and to solve problems, using good judgment.
  • Ability to implement new technologies or methods as needed.
  • Ability to hold sensitive data and information in confidence.
  • Ability to understand and implement AS9100, ISO, and Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
  • Ability to operate equipment and use tools and techniques effectively, efficiently and in accordance with ergonomic principles.
  • Proficiency in software as required; ability to perform math calculations, measurement, analysis or reporting as directed.
  • Ability to comply with Company policies and procedures.

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years of experience performing set-ups on similar production equipment.
  • Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
