The Department of Education, Health & Behavior Studies seeks a full-time, tenure track, 9 month Assistant Professor in School Counseling serving the APA-accredited Counseling Psychology Ph.D. and Counseling MA programs.

Position Description:
This succesful candidate will be responsible for:

  • maintaining an active research line related to school counseling, k-12 educational inequities, school counseling program management, k-12 educational success for under-represented populations, and/or rural school and rural community issues;
  • on-line and in-person graduate level teaching (minimum 2/2 course load);
  • coordinating K-12 school counseling program management;
  • advising master’s and doctoral students; and
  • serving on department and college committees as required. 


Minimum Requirements: 

  • Doctorate (or ABD) from APA-accredited Counseling Psychology, CACREP-accredited Counselor Education, or related field
  • Licensed/License Eligible in North Dakota (Psychology or Counseling)
  • Successful experience teaching in an on-line (synchronous) environment.
  • Expertise and Experience in School Counseling.

Preferred Skills/Desirable Qualifications:

  • Expertise in diversity, social justice, and service provision to underrepresented and/or rural populations (UND Strategic Plan’s Goal 5 & Goal 4, Grand Challenge #3).
  • Expertise or experience in child/adolescent/school populations.
  • A research agenda or expertise in behavioral health challenges or health disparities (UND Strategic Plan’s Goal 4, Grand Challenge #2), especially in a K-12 environment.
  • Experience in administration or coordination, including clinical placements activities
  • Demonstrated success in or potential for quality publications and federal grants
