JOB SUMMARY

Committed to providing pregnant women and their families continuous emotional and physical support during the childbirth process. Provides support for the duration of the labor into the early postpartum period. Is a reassuring presence while providing coaching on breathing, education on benefits, risks, alternatives, and next steps, as well as pain relief and distraction options. Anticipates needs, focusing efforts to proactively meet needs and exceed expectations. Communicates the importance of patient needs/expectations and commits to resolving them. Work alongside physicians, advanced practice providers and nursing staff to help women navigate the birth process and achieve the heathiest, most satisfying birthing experience.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Adheres to established internal standards and procedures abstracted from HIPAA. Builds a rapport with the patient and explains the condition and course of action effectively. Delivers written and oral communication, responds to questions and concerns, and produce specific outcomes and impact. Demonstrates an empathetic and professional attitude; develops trusting relationships with patients. Explores own motivation and initiative and how it relates to the workplace. Presents a positive attitude and job proficiency, striving to bring ones' best self to work each day. Responsible for promoting a safe environment for patients, families, staff, residents, and visitors and working collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary health care team to provide the best outcomes for patients. Uses relevant tools and holds patient information in a confidential manner.

QUALIFICATIONS

Doula training and certification by Doulas of North America (DONA) required. Associate degree required. Bachelors degree preferred.
