JOB SUMMARY

Work collaboratively with infection and prevention and control staff under leadership, to accomplish the goals and objective of the Infection Prevention program.
Evaluation infection control trends, practices, and provide educational programs for employees. Possess a basic understanding and working knowledge of microbiology and epidemiology. Responsibilities include surveillance of health care associated infections and reportable illness, evaluation and reporting of statistical information, consultation of asepsis, disinfection, sterilization, isolation, disease transmission and related issues. Monitors compliance standards and regulations, strategies, and evidence-based aspects. Evaluates and improves performance of patient outcomes. Assists with research needs and special projects are assigned. Understand or be willing to learn computer programs and applications necessary for data collection and analysis. Possess good interpersonal skills as well as willingness to seek out new information and knowledge. Able to think critically and problem solve effectively.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee public health programs, including statistical analysis, health care planning, surveillance systems, and public health improvement. Documents and updates surveillance standards for sterilization and disinfection, and dispatches documentation within healthcare facilities. Applies specific sterilization and disinfection programs to prevent common infectious diseases in public areas within healthcare facilities. Evaluates risk assessment models and techniques relevant to a specific line of business. Reviews and ensures compliance with relevant organizational and legal policies and procedures. Prepares proposals and presentations for a consulting opportunity. Consult with and advise physicians, educators, researchers, government health officials, and others regarding medical applications of sciences, such as physics, biology, and chemistry. Teach principles of medicine and medical and laboratory procedures to physicians, residents, students, and technicians. Investigate diseases or parasites to determine cause and risk factors, progress, life cycle, or mode of transmission. Plan, administer and evaluate health safety standards and programs to improve public health, conferring with health department, industry personnel, physicians, and others. Conduct research to develop methodologies, instrumentation, and procedures for medical application, analyzing data and presenting findings. Communicate research findings on various types of diseases to health practitioners, policy makers, and the public.

DEPARTMENT DETAILS

Full-Time Exempt / Bachelor Degree required / Infection Prevention Surveillance, working with staff, providers, and the state on infectious disease workflow and processes, all aspects of Employee Health including work comp and OSHA. #featuredjob

QUALIFICATIONS

Graduate from a National League for Nursing (NLN) or American Association of Colleges for Nursing (AACN) accredited nursing program is strongly preferred. Bachelors degree in Nursing required.
Two years of nursing experience required. Current or unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) is required. If applicable, an additional RN state licensure of graduate from an approved Masters of Public Health program may be required, when applicable for practice environment. Two years experience in a healthcare field preferred.
Registered Nurse (RN) Board of Certification in Infection Control (CIC) by the Certification Board of Infection Control, Inc. (CBIC) is required. If certification is not obtained at the time of hire, incumbent has 36 months from date of hire to obtain certification. Current RN license in state of practice is required.
Master of Public Health (MPH) - Board certification in Infection Control (CIC) by the Certification Board of Infection Control, Inc.(CBIC) is required. If certification is not obtained at the time of hire, incumbent has 36 months from date of hire to obtain certification.
