JOB SUMMARY

The Associate Cancer Registrar coordinates weekly cancer conferences in support of Sanford Cancer Services and the Cancer Registry. Coordinates and manages conference preparation and follow-up for multiple weekly local and enterprise tumor conferences simultaneously with approximately 30-35 cases presented each week, with the potential for growth in additional conferences and caseload. Collaborates with physicians, ancillary departments, administration, and others for conference preparation and committee work. Assists with coordination of telecommuting process for sites and presentation of cases from across the Sanford Enterprise. Tracks and manages cancer conference data and assists in reporting data to the Cancer Committee as required by Commission on Cancer (CoC) standards. Completes preliminary review and assessment of cancer cases and assists with pathology review workflow to identify cancer cases. Provides support to the cancer registrars and assists with other needs of the cancer registry team. Serves as the cancer conference SharePoint site manager. Manages SharePoint site membership and electronic distribution groups to share information appropriately while maintaining patient privacy. Participates in and supports applicable continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities related to cancer care. Completes necessary continuing education to support compliance with Commission on Cancer accreditation standards and assists with other work to maintain compliance with applicable standards. Must possess knowledge of ICD9, ICD-10, ICDO, and morphology coding. Requires extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and disease processes. Works extensively with electronic medical records and protected health information and is required to adhere to HIPAA privacy and security regulations and policies related to the same. May prepare agendas and minutes for monthly Cancer Committee meetings and contact those who will be presenting reports at the meeting. May upload certain cancer committee documents to the Survey Application Record. May order office supplies, reserve rooms for meetings, and take minutes at department meetings, along with other administrative duties.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintains a strong internal network that promotes informal collaboration. Use computers for various applications, such as database management or word processing. Coordinates preparation and distribution of standard reports (e.g. status or activity). Applies professional conduct and ethics in daily work; acts in compliance with legal requirements. Delivers written and oral communication, responds to questions and concerns, and produce specific outcomes and impact. Processes large quantities of detailed information with high levels of accuracy. Initiates communication with other individuals or teams to solve shared problems cooperatively. Applies basic data-gathering methodologies. Understands medical terminology associated with the contents of patient charts. Candidate needs to be highly organized, ability for attention to detail and working with confidential medical information.

QUALIFICATIONS

Associate's degree in Healthcare-related field or 2 years of applicable experience in a medical field required. Need to have knowledge of medical terminology and medical records ethic.
