JOB SUMMARY

The Multimedia Journalist (MMJ) for Sanford Health News is responsible to research, develop, edit, write and shoot stories for Sanford Health News. Will also host Sanford Health News programs including podcasts and producing TV quality programming that are shared via the website and internal channels. This work includes reading the news, conducting interviews, developing and writing news stories, taking photos/videos and producing stories on Sanford HealthΓÇÖs news and events. Present Sanford Health stories in written, video and podcast formats; and will participate in all "live" news conferences and announcements as a member of the media, representing Sanford Health. Conduct interviews, write and package stories, reporting as objectively and as accurately as possible. The MMJ will ensure program continuity between broadcasts and ties all stories together in a cohesive, strategic manner. The MMJ will maintain a strong presence across multiple social media platforms to advance the mission of Sanford Health and promote the site, effectively becoming the "face" of Sanford Health News. Meet with the News Manager or Director, writers, reporters, photographers, videographers and other stakeholders to identify story ideas. Create original news stories; gather information for news stories using subject matter experts, contacts and leads (which includes staff and patients). Build contacts and sources within the assigned areas of responsibilities. Develop, write and produce stories within assigned deadlines. Deliver news reports, including live reports, demonstrating energy, confidence, professional appearance and voice quality. Write, shoot and edit own news stories for an assigned newscast or news series. Combine video, audio and graphics to tell the story effectively. Work with a photographer or videographer on occasion. Work with assignment editor for prioritization and scheduling of all stories. Host podcasts as assigned, serving as the lead interviewer and host. Manage general upkeep of assigned company equipment. Promote stories aggressively via social media accounts.

Promotes the use of new media channel management methods as appropriate for the organization. Promotes communications events with trade journals, newspapers, radio and television. Demonstrates experience participating in productive collaborative processes. Coordinates a variety of communications opportunities with print and broadcast media. Builds a network of colleagues from other areas with diverse expertise and capabilities. Assists with coordinating communications for print or broadcast media.

QUALIFICATIONS

A four-year degree in journalism, or related field required.
Proven work experience with a minimum of three years full-time experience as a news anchor or program host. Comfortable and professional presence on camera. Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Must have a thorough knowledge of how to use digital and mobile platforms to deliver news in a fast-paced environment. Able to work under stressful conditions and deadlines. Previous health care experience preferred.
