Under the supervision and/or direction of the RN, the Nursing Assistant performs various duties assisting staff nurses in the treatment and care of patients in accordance with the established methods and procedures of the Hospital.
• JOB RELATIONSHIPS:
A. REPORTS TO: Director, Assistant Director, Program Coordinator or designee
B. SUPERVISES: None
C. INTERRELATIONSHIPS WITH: All Nursing Staff, all ancillary and clerical departments, physicians, patients and families.
• HOURS OF WORK: Variable
• DRESS CODE: Per unit dress code
• ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS OF WORK (Minimum qualifications necessary to function at full productivity).
A. EDUCATION AND TRAINING: High school graduate or equivalent work experience, including ability to read, write, and comprehend medical terminology. Current certification as a Nursing Assistant.
B. EXPERIENCE: Previous experience as a nursing assistant preferred, or has satisfactorily completed training program.
C. JOB KNOWLEDGE (Specific): Working knowledge of personal care activities, transfer techniques. A knowledge of growth and development; specifically an understanding of the cognitive, physical, emotional and chronological maturation process. An understanding of the range of treatment needed by patients of all ages in relation to the growth and development processes to include neonate, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
