Job Details

Under the direction of the practice manage, the Registration Specialist Retail will be responsible for answering incoming calls for the clinic, responding to a variety of patient requests and inquires including scheduling appointments for physicians and hospital related appointments and procedures. In addition, the Registration Specialist Retail will focus on obtaining the required information from the Patient/family to complete registration, complete verification through use of various software programs, complete Medicare secondary (MSP) questions, and look up current insurance and co-pay information.

Accurately registers patients by collecting and recording demographic, insurance, financial, and clinical data in the computer system. Records and collects necessary patient account documents. Collects self-pay balances, pre-payment amounts, and co-pays per guidelines. Creates accounts for new patients and updates accounts for previous patients to ensure accurate services and account processing.

Scheduling

Interprets physician orders and referrals to determine service needs and schedule patient visits while coordinating appointments with other departments to meet the needs of the patient and provider.

Third Party Payers

Utilizes appropriate strategies to activate and/or verify the insurance coverage of patients and obtain benefit information. Maintains knowledge of and complies with third-party payers' requirements for verifying insurance information, obtaining authorizations/pre-certifications, and completing other activities to ensure services are billed and reimbursed appropriately. Reviews Medicare accounts for completed Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaire (MSPQ).

Work Schedule

Modifies work schedule to meet department goals/deadlines and the needs of the department and patients.

Scheduling

Accurately schedules and registers appointments using the Millennium computer program.

Collections

Collects payment from patients for aesthetic services and various products.

Work Flow Knowledge

Maintain up to date knowledge regarding basic and specific work flows to ensure incoming employees can perform core job requirements.

Other Duties

Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.

Required: HS diploma / GED; demonstrate ability to process complex instructions translating into logical problem-solving steps; demonstrate proficient computer skills with high degree of accuracy for variety of computer tasks; demonstrate ability to effectively communicate verbally and in written format. Must complete HBI Medical Terminology course within 6 months of start date; must complete HBI Orientation I and II courses within 12 months of start date.
