Payroll Accountant

Position Description:
NDSU is seeking an Accounting professional with experience in payroll and multi-state taxation to join our team in providing support to the university payroll and employee tax process. The Payroll Accountant must be compliance and customer focused, and possess strong analytical and technical skills. This position will support the university payroll process, to include tax payments, remittance and reporting, and payroll tax reconciliation.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• 2 years' experience with payroll tax reconciliations; pay period, quarterly and annual tax filings; and tax compliance
• Strong accounting skills, detail oriented, and organized
• Experience analyzing, reconciling and preparing financial statements
• Must be able to clearly communicate financial information to readers
• Proficient in Excel and Word
• Organizational and leadership skills with an ability to work with and motivate others
• Demonstrated excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:
• 5+ years of payroll tax experience, including multi-state payroll tax
• Advanced degree
• CPA and/or CPP Certification
• People Soft or ERP experience
• Experience in Higher Education or large organization environment
