Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Details: Starting salary, Full-Time, Benefited, Exempt

This position will work with a multi-disciplinary team of scientists and engineers to lead the development of advanced analytics that incorporate leading edge concepts, strategies, and data applications that improve the performance of CO2 EOR projects, CO2 storage projects and unconventional hydrocarbon recovery projects. We are looking for experienced, proactive, scientifically trained, and market-oriented individuals to contribute to the success of the organization by performing one or more of the following functions:.

  • Develop and deploy data analytics using machine learning or regression based techniques to address reservoir or operational challenges and/or improve project performance.
  • Integrate machine learning and artificial intelligence into existing workflows for upstream oil and gas applications
  • Incorporate advanced data-driven analytics into software solutions to drive speed and scale.
  • Work in strong collaboration with EERC subject matter experts, leadership and clients to prepare proposals and to develop, pursue, and execute new business opportunities. 
  • Adhere to and promote EERC core values, mission statement, policies, standard operating practices and culture.
  • Maintain a high level of technical knowledge in subject area including currency with the literature and state-of-the-art.
  • Assist project managers by working as part of a diverse multi-disciplinary team of scientists and engineers to ensure work is successfully completed on-time, on-budget, and within client expectations.
  • Successful candidates would also be expected to prepare technical reports, conference papers, and peer-reviewed journal articles and communicate technical results to clients and the scientific community.
  • Some travel is required.

Minimum Requirements
:

  • Bachelor's degree in petroleum engineering, computer science, geophysics, geology, physics, mechanical engineering or closely related field.
  • Coding proficiency (e.g. Python, R, Matlab)
  • Experience with one or more subsurface packages (e.g. Petrel, CMG, ArcGIS, etc.)
  • Experience applying advanced analytical techniques for subsurface or reservoir analysis
  • Applicants may be required to present to the interviewers during the interview process.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of oil and gas industry, scientific research, or computer science experience.
  • Graduate degree in petroleum engineering, data analytics, machine learning, or closely related field.
  • Demonstrated qualifications or experience in analytical/statistical techniques (predictive modeling, decision trees, data mining methods, forecasting, neural networks, and other advanced techniques).
  • Experience working with large datasets to ingest, process, and store structured and unstructured data using Hadoop, Spark, Microsoft Azure, and or Amazon Web Services.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in one or more ML/DL frameworks (Tensorflow, Torch, CUDA, etc.)
  • Experience, background or degree in statistics and/or advanced data processing and reduction such as statistical analysis, design of experiments, big data analytics, artificial intelligence or other advanced analysis techniques
  • Experience communicating research results to technical and business audiences at all organizational levels
  • Experience in the design and deployment of analytics onto the edge, cloud, or GPU based architectures
  • Experience in prototyping, scaling, and integrating solutions as needed into existing platforms
  • Demonstrated UX/UI development to visualize analytic outputs (e.g. Spotfire, Tableau, etc.)   Experience in planning, budgeting, coordination, reporting and management of research activities.
