The University of Wisconsin-River Falls (UWRF), a member of the University of Wisconsin System, is located on the eastern edge of the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area in scenic west central Wisconsin. Year-round arts, cultural, and recreational activities and events are easily accessible from River Falls. The 6,100 undergraduate and graduate students at UWRF pursue degrees in four colleges: Education and Professional Studies; Arts and Sciences; Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences; and Business and Economics.

This position is a member of the Enterprise Applications and Services group within the Division of Technology Services (DoTS) and reports to the Enterprise Applications and Services Manager. This customer-focused position works with other technology specialists as well as members of the campus community to develop, configure and maintain secure high-quality software applications and support third party software for the University. This position will function as one of the primary staff members developing, implementing, and maintaining complex systems, customizations, and integrations across the University. The person filling this position may occasionally be asked to work early morning, evening and weekend hours based on tasks required. This position may have responsibilities to monitor critical services on a 24/7 365 basis and respond to incidents impacting services.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Required
*Four year degree in Computer Science or related field
*Two years experience working in a professional environment developing software applications
*Experience with at least two programming languages (Java, Ruby, PHP, C#, C, Python, ColdFusion, etc.)
*Experience writing SQL statements and using a relational database (MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle)
*Experience with multi-tiered web application development (server-side, HTML, CSS, Javascript)
*Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
*Experience with implementing information security best practices
*Experience using standard business communication software, (MS Word, Excel)
*Ability to apply problem solving skills when dealing with issue resolution
*Ability to work with a diverse set of customers with a variety of skill levels
*Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
*Ability to work independently with limited supervision
*Ability to work effectively in a team with other technology specialists
*Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
*Understanding of software development life cycle

Preferred
*Experience designing applications for Oracle PeopleSoft Campus Solutions student information system (App Designer, App Engine, SQR)
*Experience programming in object-oriented, event-driven languages (PeopleCode)
*Knowledge and experience with of QA and testing methodologies (unit testing, load testing, test driven development)
*Experience developing applications using a formal project management methodology (Agile, waterfall, scrum)
*Experience with business process improvement concepts (Six Sigma, Lean, 5 Whys)
*Experience developing applications for a high capacity web-based production service environment
*Experience developing services for Windows server operating systems
*Formal leadership training with certification of completion
*Advanced degree or training in computer science, business or related field
*Technical certifications in any related disciplines
