Our mission:

To provide chemical dependency services to American Indians who are affected by or afflicted with the disease of chemical dependency.

Our programs:

Women’s Program – 30-90 day in-patient treatment with extensions provided if necessary.

Men’s Program – 30-90 day in-patient treatment, with additional days provided if necessary.

Thunderbird-Wren Halfway House – Provides transitional living facilities for men and women at least 16 years of age recovering from chemical dependency.

Our organization:

Mash-Ka-Wisen Residential Treatment Center and Thunderbird-Wren Halfway House are part of the non-profit corporation Minnesota Indian Primary Residential Treatment Center (MIPRTC), governed by a board of directors from Fond-du-lac, Grand Portage, Red Lake, Leech Lake, White Earth, Bois Forte and a representative from the Sioux communities. MIPRTC offers comprehensive services for the treatment of chemical dependency. All facilities are fully licensed, and the Mash-ka-wisen men’s and women’s programs are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation (CARF).

What skills, education, and experiences does your ideal candidate(s) have?
·Must have a valid Driver License.
·Must have good oral and written skills and basic computer input and retrieval skills.
·Express an interest in developing skills in the helping field, preferably with demonstrated ability to work with the chemically dependent American Indian.

How would you describe the company leadership/team management? Mash ka wisen's management believes in honest open communication. They are compassionate and understanding. This understanding nature allows them to maintain flexibility without compromising values.

Where do you see the company/organization in the upcoming years? Mash ka wisen has been around for 43 years providing culturally relevant treatment to those suffering from chemical dependency. In Nov 2019 we opened our newly built 40 bed Thunderbird Wren Halfway House which allowed us to double our occupancy from its existing location. We will continue to grow and adapted based on the needs of our clients.

What do you feel candidates need to know about the company before applying? ·If chemically dependent, must be able to provide documentation of sobriety and abstinence from all mood altering chemicals.
·Preferably of American Indian heritage and knowledgeable of the traditions and customs of the Indian people native to Minnesota.
·Subject to pre-employment, post accident, return to duty, follow-up, and random drug testing.
